1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots that vacuum and mop also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competitors. It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one auto vacuum and mop that is very efficient however it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with how dirty they are.
For larger homes it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum uk vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial.

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto vacuum and mop-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
