Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide For Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
item upgrades (just click the following web page) are a common and important way to improve the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They boost the effectiveness of the item level upgrade they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternately, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components in them with a professional or higher salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will take on. The upgrade of an armor piece to its highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. However, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than before.
There are a few different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. Certain upgrades grant armor an extra amount of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade the item can receive, as shown below.
Some upgrades are magic or a mix of technology and magic which is identified by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a charge to use, which are identified by an "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either constantly updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but can be found in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant increases in stats and are definitely worth the cost.
The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to its max upgrade level will increase its defense value. However, it will also affect its agility and speed. This is why it is not recommended to upgrade armor pieces above +9, because the increase in defense is generally not worth the additional weight and power cost of the improvements required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain firearms have upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the risk of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity for greater damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These are obtained through either completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain amount of bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade the more advanced the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels, but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These will then have a chance at gaining you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.
The majority of players will prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they use most frequently to help them level up quicker. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates utilize to increase their power. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to improve the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects on weapons and armor. They can be created through an process known as jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem and several reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the tier of the gemstone, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel it will give different stat boost when slotted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.
The Jeweler can craft all kinds of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones which require certain levels to gain. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. You can only replace the gem once in an item upgrade of equipment.
The use of more jewels in the movement will make it feel smoother and is usually used to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than metal, so repeated friction with pivots doesn't damage them as easily.
In addition to the upgrades mentioned above players can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be freely swapped, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis cannot be swapped out, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are items of equipment that offer a wide range of small but useful benefits to your hero. You can find them in the starting area as loot or personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through the completion of road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. The player can then collect rings, amulets and necklaces, in a similar way similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be placed in any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and is only compatible with specific types of trinkets.
These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't fighting. This enables the hero to perform better when they are not active and also helps to compensate for the absence of a strong team or any slots in the talent tree that would normally be filled with hero's ideal stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item upgrading that is being upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade a single important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
In the beginning of the game junglers will usually want to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red, while top and mid players usually choose the pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will discover other trinkets in form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. They can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, such as finishing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss. These can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
