Don t Make This Silly Mistake With Your Item Upgrades

Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of many Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading them. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item upgrader they're attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a specialist or higher salvage kits to retrieve upgrades from the items.

The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon will absorb is contingent on the degree of upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to maximum upgrade level will increase the damage it absorbs. But, it's important to note that this will also increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than it was before.

There are a variety of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each has a different effect. For instance, certain upgrades give the armor a certain amount of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item upgrader will receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade item as shown in the table below.

A few upgrades are magical or a combination of magic and technology, which is identified by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges in order to be used. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are constantly updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest method to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more costly, but is readily available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost to performance and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to the maximum upgrade level can boost its defense. However, it can also affect the speed and agility of the piece. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The defensive boost gained generally isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of a weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons have special upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).

Most upgrades for weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade to apply. These are obtained through either finishing side quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain amount of bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment with low upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a better chance of bringing you the most prestigious bonuses and blessings.

Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they most often use to allow them to progress quicker. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a table. The higher the level of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or through finding Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a jewel can be improved at the Jeweler, with stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary according to the tier that the jewel is in when it's inserted into jewelry, weapons, or other gear.

All tiers of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to be able to get them. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped out with a jewel of the same kind without damaging the original one. You can only replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

Utilizing more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother and is typically done for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create an outer layer that is more durable than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and can be swapped out at any time however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs are also removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis cannot be swapped, and can only be recovered with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are pieces of equipment that provide an array of small but useful benefits to your hero. They are available in the starting area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors and by completing road interaction. They can also be made by jewelers, and found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinket players will unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but useful bonus in speed of movement and the ability to evade. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar manner similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be placed in any kind of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the lack of a strong slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by a hero's top stats.

In general, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable stats that are less significant than the iLevel of the item upgrader mod to be upgraded. This is especially true when you're looking to upgrade several stats on an Item upgrader kit. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat instead of two subpar ones.

Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one at the beginning of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand will pick either a pink or green ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will discover other trinkets in form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For instance, completing the main quest of a chapter or defeating a boss. You can view them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
