1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots that vacuum and mop also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map.
