Setting Up Destined Battles
« on: October 17, 2009, 07:01:26 PM »
How can I set up a destined battle for a character.

For example if I want Ryu to always fight Akuma at order=10 but leave the rest random.

I don't think that is be possible on Mugen.

But maybe I could be wrong... :-??
Lloyd: Presea, no one can stand against your axe!!!
Presea: The enemy has been defeated. We should move on.
Lloyd: Cold...

I'm pretty sure anything (within reason) is if your willing to put in the effort.

I've heard it mentioned somewhere but can't remember where. It'd be pretty cool if it was doable.

Same here. But the question is, if Destined Battles are possible, who do you decide who is destined to fight who? The Mugen universe is getting bigger everyday. A lot of rivalries and enemies out there. lol

Well presumably you could set up multiple destined battles. Like have Superman fight Goku and Lex Luthor both as destined battles.

THat would be pretty cool. How many destined battles do you think a character should have?

Currently not possible... unless the chars are coded together or maybe if it's a full game.

If its possible to do when characters are coded together or as a full game then its possible to do. Just need to edit characters. If someone could tell me I'd appreciate it.

Coding combined charaters is not perfect.....custom states doesnt work properly.

What you have to do...is put all the images in one char...put all the animations....and when you code you will need a variable to separate the chars (usingn as triggers the name of the enemy )

I will try to explain it easier....you will need to have the image, animations, sounds, codes, etc.... of both chars in one...and you will need to set up a variable that controls wich char you are going to use

I think what he's trying to say is you need a character that has both sprites, animations and all that for both characters in that one character.

Example: Ryux and Kenx are programmed together.

What you want is an external front-end program that reads the log that mugen generates and sets up the matches for you based on that criteria.

I have a question, somewhat related to Fred's post. How would you set up a character to fight at a certain stage. For example, if i'm playing as Mega-man and i'm going to fight Cutsman, how would I be able to make it so every time I fight cutsman, I fight at his stage? This is related, because I want a destined battle with each robot master at there home stage.

The -s switch is useful for what you want.

^lol... What the? He's asking for Arcade matches.

In your select.def you have to put the stage along with the char, for example -

KFM.def, stages/Dojo.def, order=2

char-name.def, stages/stage-name.def, etc...

hmmm couldnt you just assign a certain rank to a certain char and place that rank somewhere in the fight order to make that fight always happen?

I have a question that is, er, somewhat related to the ones asked by Fred and Epicsmith. ???

How does one ensure that when two destined rivals fight in Mugen, the particular theme for their match plays (e.g. the "X Vs. Zero" boss battle theme from Mega Man X5)?

I think i might be able to answer this one.

After you say which character appears at which stages [Lets say the character is Zero and the stage is just called X.def]. Go into X.def with a text editor, and look for a part called [Music]. Just put your song that you want (in this case "X_Vs_Zero.mp3" from MM X5) into the Sound Folder, then while in the X.def , under BGmusic =, put Sound/X_Vs_Zero.mp3 and you should be able to play that while in that stage.
