SSFIV: AE 2012 version
« on: August 23, 2011, 12:46:45 AM »
Can't find the original thread (maybe I didn't try hard enough...), so I'm making a new one. Guess if DEMONKAI wan't to merge it with the original then he can go for it.

Anyways, the Developer's blog on CoJ's SF site is back up and has fresh info concerning some of the adjustments that can be found in the newly released SSFIV: AE 2012 version that's now being location tested in some arcades in Japan. I can tell you that CoJ got the point and went back to buffing all the characters one way or the other. VERY few nergs, and those that were made were for the sake of balancing.

I don't have time to translate like I did before (even though the info on the Developer's blog is real streamlined and wouldn't take me that much time), but for thos interested can head over to shoryuken.com for the info here: http://shoryuken.com/2011/08/22/ssf4ae-version-2012-changes-part-1/

I compared the translation there to the Japanese text and it's near accurate except for the info on E. Honda's changes. Here's how it's supposed to read.

E. Honda
- Light Super Headbutt regains it's upper body invincibility like in Super, but when it connects at that point, it only does 100 pts damage.
- As a trade off, Medium Super Headbutt gets lower body invincibility. So, those who took the time to learn how to use Light Super Headbutt in AE previously should take that technology and instead use it for Medium Super Headbutt.

Also, they left out Vega (claw) for some reason. So, I'll translate it here.

Vega (Claw)
-Crouch Heavy Kick's damage has been increased to 110 pts.
-Opponents who block Cosmic Smart (Cosmic Heel in English?!? Anyways, it's his DF+Heavy Kick) will be stuck in block animation for an extra 1 frame, while Vega's negative frames have been reduced to -3 frames.
-Opponents hit by Sky High Claw on the ground will be put into a knocked away damage state.
-During U1 Bloody High Claw, after Vega hits with the knee, his hitbox for his dive afterwards has been made bigger, preventing the issue where the move stopped suddenly because it missed at times.
-U2 Splendid Claw's startup is now 8 frames.

UPDATE: shoryuken.com updated their info. Now they got Vega's info, as well as tweaked E. Honda's info.

That's it for now. Here's looking for a fun & balanced AE experience for 2012  :)

Now they need to rip out that obnoxious mask/claw remove move.

does this mean the ultra wont disappear now? dont know if anyone else noticed this but the start up frames for bloody high claw are soo long that something like a light punch will stop the ultra animation and the ultra will just be gone like you never had it. this happens to me alot :|

@SanjiSasuke wouldn't that be nice  ;*)) . Well, they could give him more resistance before he drops them when he takes hits, or at lease let him not lose it so much just from blocking.

@Swiziga: I think I've had that happen to me before. I notice sometimes his jump speed changes depening on the wall he's jumping to, which means he misses the wall completely if the opponent moves to the same wall as well. To be honest, Vega was one of my mains in Super, and despite his disadvantages, he could be a threat. AE makes him near unplayable with all the nerfs. Here's hoping Capcom buffs him back to at lease Super status  [-O<

Developer's Blog been updated again. Lotta good info in terms of little buffs for all chars except Fei Long. Again, I read the Japanese stuff first and gotta say that players are gonna be pleased with the new updates, for all characters will have a chance to be usable with all the little tricks they're getting. SRK got their own translations going (not finished yet) so you can stay up to date here: http://shoryuken.com/2011/08/23/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition-version-2012-changes-part-2/

I may sit down later this week and toss up my own translations, for I think some info is being skipped due to translating difficulties on SRK's end. We'll see....

Question: Did Cammy get buffed in the past releases (AE or SSF)?

Question: Did Cammy get buffed in the past releases (AE or SSF)?
Hmm, I would say she got buffed from Vanilla to Super, and was a great threat once peeps learned her links and her insta-Cannon Spike (forget the name? Anyways, her midair dive kick). From Super to AE, many considered the changes nerfs; even though she gained more link combo potential, she now has a hard time getting in since she can no longer insta- dive kick normally (except EX version), plus her Cannon Drill was difficult hitting twice. She's a strong rush down character, but if she can't get in, then it becomes a losing battle for her. Hope this answers your question.

@ Sabaki:

damn you know whats funny? we get more patches ("updates") for a fighting game these days for the new gen than we did when most of us here when we were kids. Like we really didnt see or hear anything about a tweak in damage, moves, glitches or anything until THE NEXT GAME SEQUEL came out. theres SSF4 AE right? ok... now we got ANOTHER ssf4 ae comin next year? thats crazy man lol. The more folks at game forums cry about nerfin this or tweakin that the more that happens. Back then you had no choice!! :-?? lol...we actually never payed it no mind. we just bought it and played. "Oh yeh SF2 turbo CPU Zangief takes half your life to nothin with one spinning pile driver but its nothin im NICE AT BEATIN EM SON!!"....sh*t like that back then lol

Like there was SF2 then STF2 champion E. SF2 TURBO then SSF2 etc etc...

there was no SF2 then SF2 2.0, 2.5 wtf is that?? lol i mean really sit back and think about that. dont you think is funny?
I see certain chars did hella damage in SF4 or less but i didnt care either it made me want to play harder not to get hit by the attack. Or take advantage of a weakness a char has that i can defeat etc etc,,,I never cared if Ryu or kens special Dragon punch didnt do enough chip damage er somethin like that just sayin jokingly. we just played the game and whipped @ss and thats it! I see youngins crying about "oh i hope they tone down the boss Gill in SF3 hes too cheap"....blah blah. we all whipped on gill and any gill user who tried to pick em being funny thinking they were going to win lol

Here's the next entry in the Developer's Blog regarding character changes and adjustments, translated by some members @ SRK. I have yet to read either the original blog nor the translations due to a busy night, so read at your own risk: http://shoryuken.com/2011/08/24/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition-version-2012-changes-part-3/

@HyperSonic29: I don't remember Rufus' changes from Vanilla to Super. All I know is once he acquired U2, he became more of a threat.

@DEMONK@i: me and a friend was talking about that the other day. Back in the days you learned how to make a character work by investing time to discover all their strategies and stuff. Heck, right before AE peeps were learning how good Fei Long was, Guy's rushdown power, and so on. Now it gets patched/upgraded and now we gotta learn how to play with each character again. I think Capcom need to slow down with all these balance patches and stuff.

lol exactly! and i totally agree with you man. It actually made me play harder at fighting games and love em more back then. And im pretty damn sure like you said folks were learning to deal with those characters in SSF4 before the AE tweaks. a friend on FB cracked a joke during a KOF 13 convo and said.."watch.. i bet a 2.0 er somethin comes out for SSF4AE in 2012! capcom is a crackhead for sh*t like that now!"

......and wow wtf happens?? :D

the man really called it on that smdh. But yeh it doesnt make me no nevermind on what char does too much damage. how about you sabaki?? im old school. i just find a way to pick the apponent apart. any good fighting game fan will find and expose that weak spot with enough play against that char givin effort and time. I say save all that patch energy for a brand new fighting game...thats what capcom needs to chill out and do!

Buncha new vids from the location tests, I'll post them up as I get a chance.

This one features a really strong Hakan player (possibly Wildcat, for they both have similar gameplay) owning everyone, including Kazunoko's Yun! Still based on each player's skills, but no denying Hakan got some really good buffs

Sorry ahead of time for the double post, but....

Here's some direct feed vids of SSFIV:AE 2010 version in action. Some famous players like Kazunoko, Wildcat, and (possibly) Sako are there. Commentator is speaking to different people about some of the changes that each character received, some things that aren't working as reported and will most likely be fixed (i.e. Rufus' U2 not connected on an airborne opponent during a juggle), and how each character has been strengthen. The majority of the conversations (at least for the 1st 2, haven't finished watching all the vids) are focused on Yun, and whether or not the changes have changed his gameplay or not. Final verdict is, while there are some obvious nerfs that prevent his gameplay from being super safe and combos he can no longer do, Yun is still strong!! Anyways, watch and see if you can spot the new changes mentioned & more on your own.
