GreenPower Motor Company produces a complete line of high-floor and low-floor all-electric heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which can accommodate many different upfits and bodies for multiple applications. The design of the platform is based on a clear paper that allows for the best placement of the battery pack and a lower center of gravity. This leads to better range/payload ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX is designed to serve mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery and catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 configuration's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation compared to traditional trucks allows for seamless sanitation, better temperature control, and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior cargo capacity and a top payload to range ratio for zero-emission goods and passenger transportation.

GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems that will enable fleets to transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star can also be wirelessly charging up to 75 kW.

We had the opportunity to test the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway, and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth and smooth over bumps and ruts, while the EV9 is a master of reducing wind and road noise on the highway. The car's acceleration is surprisingly quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one-pedal driving" simply by taking off the accelerator.

The EV9 has a wide range and can be recharged within three hours or less at home, or using any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two modes of operation including eco mode and sports mode. The eco mode prioritizes the cruise control and torque and the sport mode is designed to maximize speed and handling. Both are green power mobility scooters any good a lot of fun to drive and offer an unique experience for anyone that has never been in an electric vehicle before.

GreenPower offers several other eVehicles which include a multi-purpose electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be used as an executive shuttle, micro-transit or transit vanpool, bus, or a paratransit vehicle.

GreenPower is already producing about 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of older diesel vehicles with 100 fully electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demand of the Biden Administration, which is looking to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested in Altoona and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA conforming. This means they'll be eligible for federal transit assistance grants. Check back for updates as we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later this year. We'll be sure to give more details about this innovative EV!
