Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with strong bases, like Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be used to upgrade item trinkets, weapons, armor and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will need to select it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats and the necessary component or materials.

There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph by another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from the previous versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item can be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of those items, rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it is able to receive affixes that will boost its attributes. The number of affixes available is determined by the Best item upgrader's type. For example, a rare or unique weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the choice to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower success rate.

To measure the height of a structure, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This process is known as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important part of the game, and it can boost the strength, damage, or other attributes. You can do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in very rare instances.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item level upgrade or a comparable item. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level that has been filled.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more often than others. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also have a unique bonus that boosts the power of the item by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater chances of obtaining the bonus of your choice.

The game also includes several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending lots of money.

Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling is a method to get a more powerful character faster, allowing players to advance in the game and reach higher levels.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be arranged differently. They could be of various dimensions, have no elements, or contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in several ways, including by size and shape.

There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that provide high defense values and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.

Set items can be upgraded to include specific functions that are beneficial for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level with their counterparts in their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on the screen of their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed, along with any required items. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and armor have a higher trade value when fully updated. Particularly for weapons with spell/weapon damage glyphs and are upgraded to gold is recommended since it will result in a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense of armor that has an updated appearance.
