Indisputable Proof You Need Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The item upgrading Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrades by 3. A random substat is also increased with each upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item upgrader mod will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that are used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be bought by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through various methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will be less expensive, even in the event that they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item Level Upgrade that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
