DISK TRAY WONT OPEN (read my last post)

I was messing around and turned off the ps2 when the disk tray was open and i closed it manually

now it wont open i was like Tongue to :O

then i tried bring it out by force and pushing it back im like WTF

im about to open my ps2 with not more than 50 percent knowledge of what im doing

any ideas

Closing it manually shouldn't do it any harm; I'm sure Sony considered the possibility. Just turn it on again and press the eject button.

it opens a lil then closes... then i tried pulling it out and pushing it back but its still only opening lil bit

Don't keep manually opening it: that will definitely muck it up. Turn it off properly (so that the red "standby" light isn't on), disconnect the power, reconnect the power, turn on the PS2 and then press the eject button.

If that doesn't work, then you've seriously screwed up your PS2 my friend. In which case you have the choice of returning it, or voiding the warranty, opening up the screws and cleaning out the interior by hand.

I have to say that I did the last option myself on my original PS2 (about 6 months after it was originally released) and it still works, but the inside is now black from being burnt out and it does need a push now and then to play later games (it doesn't like RE4, for example).

Oh, I can play RE4 on my original PS2. It just takes three or four attempts to load it up. Where as a really old game like Silent Scope 2 will load up first time.

Point is, does your PS2 work?

i got mine around when it was released(not the slim one).

and it works like new.

maybe you could of jammed it or something else.

uhh i dunno wat the problem was....

i just took the cover off and blew around

and i didnt have a small screwdriver

i was like ... ill do it later so i put the cover on and plugged in the ps2 and pressed the open and it opened i was like IMMA CHARGIN MAH LAZER

and i tried it on my tv and it blurry

so i switched tv and it works i was like

I've fixed about 12 PS2's, all old ones and mostly with the disc read problem. I can say by FAR the most complicated part of it is the CD drive. If you take it apart and you have little to zero knowledge of doing this type of thing, you will ruin your ps2. I guarantee it. If its coming out a pinch and then sucking back in you've already ruined it anyways. It sounds like you stripped some of those tiny white gears out. Either that or you hurt the little motor that runs them. Either way there would be a very low probability that even I could fix it, and I have extensive knowledge fixing and building electronic devices. So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say your screwed. The problem is you pushed the disc drive back in when it was OFF. Thats a major no no. Live and learn.

No offense here bro but... a good piece of advice is "don't do stupid things with expensive electronics". You could have easily just turned it back on, waited a minute, closed it, and not been in this situation.

If you open it up all I can say is make a system to REMEMBER WHAT SCREWS GO WHERE AND WHAT ORDER YOU TOOK THEM OUT! Make a diagram as you go along. Trust me.
