Problem wit cd rom drive need help from computer expert

man somehow my cdrom drive is not showin up when i look for it in my start menu and also it says that the computer cant detect a cd drive how do i fix this problem like how do i get my cdrom drive back or can i download one

have you done any recent upgrades, or did this happen out of the blue? double check in you device manager (right click my computer, go to properties, then go to hardware, and over to the device manager tab) it should be listed under DVD/CD Rom drives

edit:if that doesnt work, shut down your pc, and unplug to make sure its completely off. open your pc, unplug the ribbon connected to your CD rom (not the motherboard!) then plug it back in, boot your computer, and it should load the default drivers. if after everythings started up and it still doesnt work, try control panel, then "add hardware" to see if your pc will see it...

if that doesnt work, then im at a loss, you'd have to either a)get a new drive or b)take it to the shop... mind you tho, dvd burners go for like $30 these days so its not a bad investment if you have to replace. let me know if any of this helps!

ok, try clicking disable, hit ok, the enable it again and see if that works

i think all that things wont work, when that happens almost all times means your cd-room is damaged so maybe the only solution will be to replace it.
