Help on Ripping from Mame
« on: October 29, 2007, 12:49:28 PM »
Hello Guys!
Question: how can I rip from a Mame? Do I need a program in particular?

Thanks for your support.  :)

Mame itself is a very hard emulator to rip clean sprites from. Backgrounds usually need to be manually painted out frame-by-frame, since most (if not all) builds of Mame don't have a layer removal feature that I can find.

In order to take screenshots of each frame, I recommend Animget, which is a very simple screenshot taking program.

you can just turn off some of the layer sprites.
but i dont think thats mame..
i think its final burn alpha, which is basically a cs1 and cs2 emulator.

Correct. There are other emulators that can layer remove (WinKawaks tends to be the most popular.) However, some games only run on Mame, and sprite ripping from them is then uber tough,. I did it for the X-Men arcade White Queen, but again, I had to manually paint out the backgrounds.
