Questions about Comics characters
« on: July 22, 2018, 10:13:46 AM »
Hi guys. I have some questions about some Comics charcters for my game and I would like to ask for opinions here.

1- Is Thor immune to electrical strikes? Asgardians can not be electrocuted, but would he not receive any harm? Or could it convert the damage to MP? Yes. While holding the Mjolnir, no electrical attack harms him. But I dunno about the damage convert to MP.

2- Iceman should not be frozen, right? Would it absorb the damage caused as MP or HP, as the Torch does?

3- Ares is class 75. Could he raise players by the neck to punch, including Hulk and Red Hulk, who are very heavy? Yes, he can.

I think the amswer to all 3 questions is YES!!  Thor is the god of thunder, Iceman can be fully covered in ice and Hercules has superstrength beyond Hulk and Red Skull!!  :)

About Thor, I saw this is a common question in foruns. While he holds the Mjolnir, he receives no damage from electrical attacks:

I don't see anywhere saying he could absorb the damage, but I think he should channel it to Mjolnir, refilling his MP, no?

Iceman - I know he can be covered in Ice, so he can't be frozen in place? And will he receive no damage from it?

Ares, not Hercules :) But yeah, he is able to lift him

1  Thor is not immune to electrical attacks, here's proof.
(click to show/hide)

2. Iceman is immune to being frozen. His power is actually dynamic control over the moisture in the air, and he could do some crazy stuff with it if he even understood his own powers better. He can freeze and unfreeze anything, and theoretically he could even boil water away if he wanted to. I cannot currently find the page where emma frost took over his body and used his powers weird.

3. Ares is strong, but Hercules is stronger and i haven't found anything that shows Herc could lift the Hulk. I would say that not a one handed lift to the neck but it would require the full force of his strength and two hands to lift/grapple with the Hulk.

Thor - Seams that it could be changed through the years, but this makes no sense. Maybe that eletrical attack was magic or something. I think I will follow this route - no damage + MP recharge.

Iceman - I saw that page where Emma controls him. Looking from this point of view, so he won't be able to being frozen. But will him absorb the damage into MP?

Forget about Hercules, I am targeting Ares here. "Ares possesses greater strength than most Olympian gods and lifting (press) up to 70 tons". The most heavy Hulk is 2400lbs (roughly 1,08 ton), so he would be able to lift him.

yes, but for the purpose of a game, they should get hit like other characters regardless of what is their powers.. if not this can be an advantage over other characters and then the game wont be balanced. can you imagine torch vs torch, it would turn into just a punch and kick fight and no type of fire throws will matter.. but then again this is just my opinion.

I don't think so. Characters should not be all the same, specially when we are talking about Super Heroes. We are already taking some freedom of including Hulk and he not killing almost anyone with a single blow (just imagine a street thug receiving a stron punch from Hulk...he would just explode). I think we really NEED to have some differences and advantages (and disavantages) of picking one or another character, or it won't make much sense to have different characters.

Some examples from my game:
- Humans with no armor receive 25% more damage from cutting attacks
- Half armored enemies received normal damage from cutting attacks
- Armored enemies (or players) receives 25% less damage from cutting attacks
- Fyling characters doesn't dies when falling into holes, just receive damage and escapes from it (unless it doesn't have enough HP, then they will die anyway).

This is something I really care when coding a game - to make the characters different from each other. Or it will be just a skin.

I read Hercules instead of Ares!! lol

Well Ares has more strength as Hulk or Red Hulk I think because he has the strength of Olympians which is very high! :)

I only mentioned Herc because Aries isnt as strong as him. Herc and Zeus in the comics are both stronger physically then Aries.

According to the characters, the animations can make the characters easier or difficult to figh. Example a turn stand for ryu is from 2 to 3 sprite; juggernaut I have 8 sprite,  a difference from 5 to 6 sprite. Thus the turn stand of juggernaut represents 2 - 3 times the turn stand of ryu. What wants to say that juggernaut is longer to turn around than ryu and makes him more vulnerable. Juggernaut has a major power of strike but slow in the movements. He has a power up of red armor.

Iceman can be frozen, if he is plunged into a block of ice, he is immediately seized. He created of the ice, he does not make him melt. Thus not to be frozen he has to make an action of block.

My opinion only. b-(

Thanks everyone.
Let's talk about other character - Kaine Parker, aka Scarlet Spider

I was reading about him because I am looking for alternate Spider-Man versions which could really bring something new to the table for my game (alongside with some must-have versions, like the black suit) and I think he fits.

I am curious about some of his powers:

Quote
Mark Of Kaine: This same attribute has also resulted in deformity in his hands. He can channel this same energy endothermically through his hands and leave a severe burn mark on a person by making skin-to-skin contact with them. He typically leaves this mark across a person's face, though it is presumed he can do the same to other parts of the body.

Would it be sufficient to make the enemy engulf in flames?

Quote
Psychic Alignment with Arthropods: Kaine has an unknown method of creating a psychic alignment with his environment; specifically, a more empathetic and sympathetic relationship with spiders and insects. While connected to the varying populations of spiders, he was unable to communicate with them directly or command them.

So he can controll spiders? It would make sense to make him using a spider to attack?

Quote
Sting of Kaine: After his powers were altered on Spider-Island, Kaine had venomous bone-like stingers which extended from his forearms.

I know he doesn't have this power anymore, but I want to include it anyway since temporal differences aren't not an issue. How far he can extend this sting? And its poisonous?

For the 1st I think the answer is no. For the second is 100% YES! For the 3rd one I am not sure but I can answer that since it contain venom I guess its poisonus! :)

1. It's more of a chemical burn and not one that produces flame.

2. It was more like he could sense things though spiders then actually control them but i don't see the problem of you using that if you made him a character.

3. The stingers came out almost as long as say wolverine's claws but it looked more like a big spike, and yes.

Thanks for the info, Mew.
Spider-Man will have some alternate modes to feature other suits, including Miles Morales. And I thought Kaine could be unique too.

Let's talk about a new character: our good steel comrade COLOSSUS.

STRENGTH AND RESISTANCE
Looking at Wikia, it is very strong and has a very high resistance. Even so, below the levels of the Hulk. So should he have the same levels as Namor, for example?

ORGANIC METAL ARMOR
Due to the fact that he has natural armor and is quite resistant to damage, I think some attacks should not even cause damage to him. For example, knife attacks (should have zero damage). Normal projectiles, such as bullets, should not harm him either - after all, he can withstand tank shells.

My ideas:
- Sharp attacks - Zero damage *
- Common projectiles, like revolver bullets - damage reduced by 90% or more, causing the bullets to bounce off him.
- Energy projectiles - common damage.
- Elementary attacks (fire and ice) - damage reduced by 50%

* I would have to worry about extremely sharp biting attacks, like the attacks made by Ares. For Ares has enough strength to do damage to the Colossus.

How this sounds?

sounds good, I really like it. My only question is will those advantages (WHICH make since given his ability) will he be balanced? is he meant to be a bit op or even with those pluses within the confines of the game hes still will fare the no different then anyone else?

Side note: OBR is pretty amassing, you can have all those different properties.

To be honest, there are several areas where OpenBOR defeats Mugen shamefully. There are a few spots where Mugen is supposedly better - more for the sense of ease than for capacity. Because I do not remember things that are possible in Mugen and that are impossible in OpenBOR. However, the opposite happens - there are things in OpenBOR that are simply impossible to do in Mugen.

As Zvitor once said, "trying to balance something that is already unbalanced by nature is practically impossible." If you could choose persoangens within a team with super powers, you would probably choose the Hulk most of the time.

So there are definitely characters that will be "OP". But there are some issues that will help (but will not guarantee 100%) in the balance, such as reduced speed, low MP value (needed to perform special blows), etc.

There are two types of lightning - positive and negative. Thor could be affected either way by electrical attacks. I'd say lower the damage he suffers and give him a 50/50 chance of small MP bonis.

Iceman could be frozen to 0°K... so yeah, he can take freeze damage. I'd lower the damage too here.

I don't know anything about Ares, but isn't Colossus' armor supposed to make him heavier (lower jump), slower and susceptible to electricity?

I like your direction with Colossus and the ideas posted!!  :w00t:

I know that he is vulnerable to acids, magnetic attacks and telepathic attacks!  :)

Some extra info is that he is stronger than vibranium. Once they had him cuffed in virbranium bonds and tried to melt him but he broke it to pieces!  :)

Also I remember in Ultimate Arcade they used sonics to force him to revert to flesh form the same might be try for his 616 counterpart.  :)
