A thread on Jewelman

Description: Jewelman was a robot designed to collect valuable resources for Dr. Light, but he was nearing expiry and was scrapped. He was found by Dr. Wily, and used him for mining resources, which were used to create the other robots. Later on, he was defeated by Megaman, and then Jewelman and the other robots join Dr. Light's main robots

Actually, I just made half of that up. To get to the point, here is the new Jewelman. This is a huge jump compared to the previous, trash version.



So other than the arm's shading, the leg gems and the neck, what needs work on?

Hello,
Glad you have interest in our Project here.
I see your trying to make Jewelman.  To make a Megaman character you really need to use Megaman as your base.  The legs, arms, and torso are exactly what you would need.
I took a try at making Jewelman myself.  Megaman sprites were my starting point.  I'm sure I'm not 100% correct on his design but you can get the idea of what we mean by our suggestions. 
If you looking to make a full character out of Jewelman and this helps you, your welcome to use it.  Enjoy and have fun.  :)

Your welcome to modify and use the sprite I made however you see fit if it helps you.
The mouth is straight from Megaman and is easily interchangeable with any mouth from Megaman's sprites.  The body, arms, and legs are Megaman.  The chest is custom drawn, as is the gems and extra gems around his body.  Everything was drawn right on top of a Megaman sprite.

It's 2:07AM here, but I'll use the Laspacho's Jewelman to help work on this.

The jewel will be modified 100%, and so will his lap.

So this version is pretty much full-game quality I guess, I finally got a better idea on how to shade, and I'm improving at it.



Only thing left is the legchips and the bracelet, and really I don't want to sound like that type of person who needs people to do everything for but can someone do the legchips.


EDIT: I forgot to remove the shadow, but I'll do that in v3 since it's a 10-second-job.

You positioned the chips on his thighs instead of his knees. Try placing it on the pointy portion of his leg.

Also, if Quickman's project is breaking down, should I take him over? I'll make him a priority over some of my future chars(reskins), who are Stewie & Brian, Milhouse, etc. (Even though the sketches for these guys are 85% finished)

looks good man, but you are reinventing the wheel, look, i download a jew sprite and replaced it, it is less work and it looks better (i think)

I'm not an expert and I got this result

I did this new version to fit RMM style and well I actually did well with shading for once lol.



Can someone link me a clean Megaman sprite sheet without the shadows and with the outlined legs?

Anyway, I have some attack ideas

1 (special)- Incinerates the enemy into Jewelry and gets the ability to hit him for a while until the jewel breaks down (if the enemy escapes in a style similar to CVS Kirby, except without the bar, or just a while after that). Also there is no damage dealt while incinerated, but the enemy is freehit.
2 (special as well)- Grabs the enemy by his damage sprite and cracks him into his gem (don't know if this is possible but similar to KFM's grab/Big Chicken's rapid kick)

Remember to keep the jewels on his body sharp. Use straight lines on them and avoid curves.
