What's Done:

Basic Sprites & Animations (+ the 5000 series)
NEW Stance (MKX)
New Throw Animation
All Palettes
Several NEW Basic Attacks
Snow Fall (Modified Trip)
Slide
Freeze Sprites & Animations (new iceball animation)
Ice Clone [Ground + Air]
Winter's Gut (Flip Kick from Shaolin Monks (Uppercut combo TBA after beta1))
Rudo Ketsueki (Cold Blood) [Grab Super]




How this character came to be...

I was actually working on this character well before my hiatus, but of course halted it once that happened. This started off as kind of a Sub-Zero clone from Shaolin Monks, but grew to be much more once MKX released (and realizing how bad of an idea that would be...  ;*)) ). You'll find a lot of this character was taken from MKX's version of Sub-Zero.

Cryomancer Sub-Zero is also a much more grounded character than any other from the series, that have been recreated for MUGEN thus far.


Also, permission was granted BY BINHO to use his Sub-Zero character(s) as a base, when I first started on this character a long time ago.

Btw, I think his ice arms needs more contrast. They looks too...cold.

The ice colors on his arm were actually taken from Binho's original ice clone sprites. :cool

Just finished spriting the "Winter's Gut" move a few minutes ago. I will be adding a kind of ice falling from head of opponent effect to it soon too.

Back to work on the iceball sprites and freeze move in general for a bit, after coding this move. [Done]

While taking some breaks from coding, I worked on a few palettes so far, MKX & Kuai Liang (first post).

Still working on sorting some things out with the freeze move, but the Winter's Gut move is locked in (other than some effects to be added later).



ALSO, I would like to announce a brand new website. Webs, formerly Freewebs, has been giving me some trouble lately with loading the actual website, so I switched to weebly. The links are active on the new website, and all of my release topics on this forum have their first posts updated with the new link (click the pictures on the new website to be redirected to the downloads).

After some terribly insane surgery, Sub-Zero's new stance has arrived! :D

Check it out on the first post! I hope you like!

I'll also be redoing some basic attacks. I'm actually missing a decent crouching light kick animation, so I may have to do a blood transfusion on that one, like I did with the Winter's Gut animation.

New ice throw, modified Snow Fall combo, new basic attack are all almost done.

I also updated the first post with what I believe is important, and that's getting permission from the original author of the creation/edit that you're basing your work on. It was back in 2008, when I first started the Shaolin Sub-Zero character that evolved into the now Cryomancer Sub-Zero character, btw.

Also, I need a way to add some kind of flashing glow effect to some attacks. How would I go about doing that?

Awesome. It does work, but I want to have a palfx effect for the body of the character, and then like a 1-2px outline for the character. Is that possible with the PalFX code? If not, I can just try to find a way for the body to glow a bit like in MKX. (I got it to flicker, now if I could make that one the outline, and make another one for the body that doesn't flicker... Superb!  :D )

Gotchya. I think I'll just use the palfx for the body then, it's only a thin outline on the body I see. No need for the extra. Don't want to over do it with the effects here :-j

I also realize I've shown nothing since spriting the Winter's Gut move and putting it into the character. I'll make another gif when I'm done with the intro and victory poses. It... may take a while though. @-)

Here's what the ice throw looks like, btw.

Note: It's not nearly as jittery or whatever in game. It's just because of the loop in the gif.



Also, the intros will feature authentic MKX Sub-Zero sounds (as long as I still can... Idk if anything changed with MUGEN regulation since 2011. Please advise if it did. Thx. :thumbsup: )! I know this might be crazy, because the sounds from the Binho sounds... sound different, but I honestly don't care. They're awesome, and I plan on making the intros awesome!

There will be one intro for the first beta, and after that's released I will work on one or two more, with one for going up against Mortal Kombat characters in general &/or Scorpion. >:D

Slide's in.

NEW crouch light kick too.

The Slide move will be customized more after the 1st beta. The new crouch light kick animation comes from Binho's Old Sub-Zero character. It was actually used as a jump kick animation for that character, but as you'll see when the beta releases, it works very well as a crouch light kick move too. :P


Also, the ice hammer move won't be in the 1st beta. I want to create a whole new animation for the hammer itself, and I'd rather wait until after the 1st beta.
