I'm going to see it tonight, so i can't say anything yet. So far it looks very good on paper!

I went in dark (no trailers, interviews, anything) and I'm very pleased with that decision. MARVEL Studios just proved that they can make any movie they want now.

Side note: that button scene at the end, that made me really happy and also madexmexfeel really old.

P.S. DC, I just watched a movie with a walking, talking, gum toting raccoon and a tree bodyguard. You have no excuse for the lack of a Wonder Woman movie.

Back from the cinema!!!
Rocket and Groot really stole the show in this one, Star-Lord was one hell of a likeable jerk, Drax and Gamora were pretty meh honestly, I expected a little more from them. Ronan and Nebula were somewhat dissappointing as the main threats(specially Nebula  ), but they fulfilled their roles decently. I would give it a 7.5 over 10 due to funny parts in the movie(which were a lot), but it really lacked in development for anyone not named Quill.

Even though it belongs to the MCU, the film didn't have a big level of connection to what has happened, but we see the first glimpse of what might be coming in phase 3. Luckily Gamora and Drax get better development in the sequel(already confirmed at Comic-Con last weekend)

Thanos made his official on-screen debut in this one, it looked freaking awesome, i really liked his look. Also, the after credit scene features a cameo of a certain animal some of you might recognize(and even if you don't the movie tells you right after it when giving credit to its creators).
4 gems acknowledged, 2 more to go before the infinity gauntlet has all its pieces revealed(Loki's Staff is rumored to have the 4th one)

loved the movie, unfortunetly my 2D gold class session, ended up in 3D fo the first 5 mins of the movie, then we got shifted to a normal session, and 4 free movie tix or the trouble

so ls loki's staff the mind gem, (as he was controlling hawkeye and selvig in avengers)

the gem in guardians is the power gem? tesseract is the space gem? and aether is reality gem?

doctor strange will feature the green soul gem, and what's left is the time gem which I can't see in any version of marvel movies they have coming (unless in ant-man has a time involved story, or in avengers 2, the stone is used to reverse what happens after ultron ruins the world, Or is the last gem thanos can't get his hands in the third avengers (3)

plus the colors of the gems are off, power is meant to be red, (movie its purple)
reality is meant to be yellow, (in thor its red/black)
tesseract is meant to be space and purple (captain America/avengers its blue)

mind gem seems to be the only one correct, and its not even confirmed as the mind gem yet

So far, we don't have confirmation of what the Aether represents, but you're right about the Tesseract and the Orb(it was mentioned by Kevin Feige)

I really hope the movie completely destroys Transformers at the box office

aether was reality confirmed by marvel plus at tye nd of Thor 2 they hand it over to the collector and say they shouldn't keep two stones together

I thought the movie was awesome! One of Marvel's best movies yet. I don't know how Marvel does it. It's as good as Avengers and the Winter Soldier movie. It was a lot of fun and to my surprise had a lot of heart in some scenes. I don't know who were the creative forces behind this movie, but someone had a great vision that Marvel had to have seen in order to make a movie focusing on such a non-mainstream comic. Marvel Studios can do practically anything and it turns to gold.

Was cool to see Thanos and more of the infinity stones. I do wish they had a more clear track on where each one of the stones are. I can't remember where half of them are. Thanos and the gems seem to be the only link between this movie and Avengers. I'm going to guess that Phase 3 will end with Avengers and Guardians fighting Thanos over the infinity gauntlet? But that's years down the road, so we'll see. The Guardians may play a small role in Avengers 3.

Only real nitpick I have... I find it hard to believe that Star Lord wouldn't have opened that present and letter from his mom during the whole 26 years.

I was having issues posting that friday evening here cuz of my pc so i held off. but yeah i saw it on friday and i really liked the movie

-there were a lot of laughs. Rocket was a riot he stole the show a good amount of times with his lines. lil critter made me want to throw on UMVC3 and just rock with em for a while
-Action was damn cool. i loved Groots @ss whippin scene. The fight scenes were pretty cool overall
-The design of the make up on the characters were great. Of course big man Thanos looks great
-very ending of the movie was pretty amusing haha
-and wow the after credits had me stuck like WOW they really went there one of my friends spotted the easter egg character early while we were watching so the easter egg credit confirmed he did see what he saw

I enjoyed every second of this movie. I still think Avengers and Winter Solider are the best, but Guardians was definitely the most entertaining and humorous. Rocket and Groot especially.

While I didn't notice it while watching, Ronan wasn't a very strong character, so ya, he definitely could have been better. At least give us more to his motivations behind why he wanted to destroy Xandar.

I too wonder if Cosmo or Howard the Duck will be seen again in the Guardians 2 (confirmed not long ago by Marvel) or in other movies. Marvel doesn't usually hint at a character unless they have plans for them down the road, but perhaps these were just Easter Eggs for the fans?

At the rate it's going that shouldn't be a problem. The movie has already made 106 million dollars not counting Tuesday box office results and what it's making right now and with the only real competition this month being Ninja Turtles I don't see it slowing down anytime soon.

As of now it's on par(actually a little above it) with winter solider and that's the top grossing movie out right now for 2014

Edit: Tuesdays numbers are in and it made another 11 million so now it's at 117million. So crazy for a non main stream comic movie to be doing this good, Sony and fox just need to to give up the marvel rights they own

that's what i've been saying for years,  but I figure its best to wait till marvel studios finish of making all the comicbook heroes they currently are allow to make before starting (properly starting the likes of) X-men, F4, and Spidey (i'm sure they could do spidey, but he has heaps of villians)
x-men are just too many characters, and too many teams, plus Deadpool needs to be reverted to Marvel Studios now, if fox won't to introduce him to their existing X-men Universe with his own movie

that whole ant-man drama that happened a few months back, is proof that Marvel Studios are not messing around no more (8 years  to fine tune a script.......must be a fukn good script) no wonder they sacked the director (or went separate ways) now we see a movie coming next year
and doctor strange in the works, followed by rumoured, Captian (Ms) Marvel, Inhumans, Black
Panther, and sequels of Guardians, Avenegrs , and the cross over of those two, (why does everyone think that Avengers 3 is  Vs Thanos = marvel will stretch it out)

the big question is now when F4 reverts to marvel, what Avengers Movies can be made from that???

if loki' staff is mind gem, then thanos gave it to him to lead that invasion, i cant supose thanos could give one infinity gem to someone if this are only gem which he have, i supose others 2 gems are with thanos.

the fact that he rules as the strongest being in the universe (before Ronan proclaimed that he was) as stated by korath
means he got there with some help i would think, also i notice he likes to sit with on his hovering throne, patiently, no rush..... Would he already have the time gem? His scene in guardians made him look like kang, or is kang the captain America villain in 3, this Can introduce the time gem, plus show alternate captain Americas in alternate timelines, (bucky, or falcon) while having Steve still chase kang through time

another thought about thanos and loki alliance is that loki now sits on asgards throne, thanos only needs to txt him and the glove is with thanos

Of all the movies I've seen this year so far, Guardians has been my favorite, with Winter Soldier right behind that.

Sony and fox just need to to give up the marvel rights they own

I'm enjoying Andrew Garfield as Parker and the last movie was fun. However, I would like to see Marvel include Spider-man in the Avengers.
The X-men franchise is so big. Marvel would find it difficult to handle all these Avengers/Guardians movies AND X-men on top of that.

Sad truth is Fox and Sony are never going to give the rights back. They'd be crazy to do that. Those are huge money makers for them.
