As long as they don't try to cater to the romantic comedy/inuyasha crowd and turn Batman 15 and flitting around gossiping (cough*marvel*cough) then it's fine.

They don't have to 'try hard', they aren't stupid, they have 75+ years of backstory.

The problem isn't making a great Batman, as any Batman should will have a 'crime story' element, good writing is a must.

The problem is finding the right people who wont put some stupid spin on him.

I think that is what made that series so good. They took every element from Batmans history and molded it into what was really an adult cartoon. They even based the show in a different time period than when we grew up. It looked more like a 1950's show rather than something in the 1990's. It was great. It is something I could not really appreciate until I got older. Than I thought this was some dark and deep stuff .
