Well interesting responses. I guess there was an shooting game made with the engine.  It's still hosted online somewhere.  Why not an rpg?  There are also those nes carts the contra and mario bros 1.  I don't think it's a good idea.  But try to stress the engine.  Why not?  It's pretty dang flexible.  I don't think that you could make a tradional rpg.  But maybe some sort of wierd scrolling thing...

I used to play the role player...sh*t what was it called that's a great game anyway, that's cool edit...but you know if it were true the mugen char, which shall remain nameless for now, would have owned the player.

Believe me, the "load game" screen alone would say that this isn't "Secret of Mugen".
