Bro i am telling you man.. that dude Tom would fit right in perfectly bro! i decided to research some history on the dude and had to look up on SF3 Alex story. Tom was a renowned fighter and had his own gym too and got hurt very bad in a fair fight against Gill. which is why Alex decided to enter the tournament even tho Tom told Alex that Gill had won the fight fair. Tom skills based on what Alex skills are are American Pro wrestling mixed with Kickboxing.  To me Tom would tie right into the in between story of what happens after SF2 and leads into SF3 story wise.

My thought tho on this 5th character is still mind boggling cause not sure how far back they gonna go or how close to SF3 they are gonna get or inside of SF3 story period of anyone in the sidelines. Tom right now for me is my best guess cause of story leads and his skills would be different and more polished than Alex  since being his teacher. 

but still that King Cobra dude if was made to be a new guy in since he was supposed to been in anyway would bring another another new face tho to the game.  !

Tom would be a great character choice. It would make sense cuz he should've been active around sfIV time before being injured by Gill, plus he is part of the sf universe who's been a npc but mentioned as a skilled fighter. I could see Capcom making this happen.

I doubt that Capcom will prefer Tom over Alex. Capcom may have trolled us a lot before, but they would never troll us THAT hard.

Can't be Alex since he's been a playable character in the sf series...even though I would prefer Alex. if Capcom is true to their word, then we will have to expect someone new to the series or a npc.

Very true sabaki thery might if he is in , give him Alex type move sets and some moves that Alex doesnt use. Could be good too.

@ trinitronity:  actually bro think about it, Capcom actually wouldnt be trolling us with Tom..because he is a bonifide fighter who was skilled enough to rank up in a tournament to take on Gill. even tho he lost he still has the skills to do battle against anyone. He makes probably the most sense to have in...especially given the fact that he is the reason why Alex even participated in the SF3 tourney going by story line. I may have to dig deeper but so far he is the only NPC story based that transitions perfectly to tie in the in between gap of SF2 and SF3. he also may have some off associations with Guile cause he is also a military trained ex operative.
the main thing is to remember is that whoever this brand new fighter is someone who have never been a playable character but is very much part of the SF world.

Goutetsu to me would be the troll guy .. he was killed long ago by Akuma who wears his beads around his neck and goutetsu also was in a game called Muy Thai 2 as an unlockable character and had an unlockable Shin Goutetsu form.  it was an online flash game. But he also seemed to know more than just one fighting style other than then one he taught Akuma and Gouken and listed as the only one to not give into the  Satsui no Hado like Akuma cause of how he valued the other arts he taught.  read this on several wiki's and articles.

Tom still is a great run to be the 5th character IMO as well as others around.  Who else are we missing that it could be and make sense to be in thats been around but not playable and story arc wise if they using that?

it could be anyone but im hoping its an actual character like maybe someone mentioned in the street fighter universe that hasnt been playable or from rival schools since they can fit in without causing problems to the story. its like street fighter except with highschool kids from japan with sakura being one of them. i just hope they dont make it a joke character like norimaro

Capcom gives us another hint towards the identity of the mysterious 5th character.

It is about time. We barely hear anything from them concerning Ultra Street Fighter IV.

well from that reading it still doesnt tell you who it could be or anything solid, but since R and D wanted to bring the character to fruition ( meaning its a character never playable in street fighter universe but very much a part of it) then this may leave out the likes of Cobra but the inclusion of Tom ( Alex mentor and master teacher who fought Gill but lost before events of SF3) and possible some other characters who are solid fighters but not in the main scene.
i may have to think extra hard and do some digging in the SF universe as to what characters that are fighters but sat in the background of characters stories. hmmmmmmm

Indeed... That makes sense since Ingrid was a guest in Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX. Now either Rook or D. D. could be a guest in USF4. But I don't think Death would enter, since it probably would be a boss in CFAS.

I initially thought of Alex, or someone from Final Fight (Lucia, Dean or Carlos). Then, I thought that could be Noembelu (she was from T. Hawk's tribe). But Rook and D. D. look pretty good adds.

Hagger already been in a fighting game so they already said he is out and That Ryu is from DOA series. Its def someone tied to street fighter lore somehow.
Very interesting and funny to see folks still on other spots posting names of characters they already clearly stated of the fighting likes that wont be in.

so i bought the street fighter anniversary artbook last week and finally looking through it today and i saw something interesting. this picture by shinkiro



so this book came out december 17th 2012 and its ssf4 artwork done by the guy that did cvs1-2 stuff but look who's in it, elena and hugo who were announced not too long ago. so it just had me wondering why he had 2 characters in it that werent in the game but were announced later. is it just a coincidence? maybe but anyone know who the guy with the thick eyebrows on the top right is? i dont recognize him thought it might be goutetsu/5th mystery character?.....hmmm

no coincidence, its was crapcom plan from the beginning rather or not the character where complete at the time of release is unknown tho. they where always planned. I wish i still had inside word on things video game. If you remember i told you that there would be a super and 12 version of the game upon the original release of the game (SF4).....

He looks more like Retsu to me, from SF1 and since they said the 5th new character would be making thier fighting game debut, I doubt it's him.
