I've said this in a few places now... they can change whatever they want, I don't care. I'm waiting for the 10 to 20 years it will take for the lisence to revert back to Marvel and we can get their take on the big screen franchise.

I can't believe we live in a time when we can't just get a good movie and be done with it.  they make more reboots than original ideas.  I wouldn't be surprised if they rebooted superman again just to attempt to make a justice league movie.  you know they are going to have to reboot batman because Nolan's batman is very very useless if superman's around.  hell who's to say if they did have problem that superman won't just go snapping necks of all the bad guys.

Hahaha no. I have some gay friends that would be pissed if they did what they are talking about because they are huge Siperman fans. There is being controversial with character direction and then there's just pushing it and well that frankly that is pushing it and with the kind of fan base these movies have I don't think it would sit well and that is not even close to the outrage fanboy/comic purest would have since this is the Amazing universe.

As for my view on this subject. Do I have a problem with Spiderman being gay, no, do I have a problem with Peter Parker being gay, yes. If they want to have a gay/bisexual Spideman then just create one that is don't change a character just because you think it would be cool, hell they want a black Spiderman so they created Miles Morales(Black/Latino) they didn't make Peter a black.

Did anyone else get the feeling that it's really Garfield himself that wants to explore his sexuality here..? Came off that way to me. Even had an actor in mind he really wanted to take the role of the love interest.

I think people are looking at this the wrong way.

The first line is "I was kind of joking..." He's not looking at making Parker gay, he's just making a comment about homosexuality (or the lack of) in modern media. How many gay role models (and superheroes) are there out there?

"It’s hardly even groundbreaking so why can’t he be gay?" How many gay teens struggling with their sexuality have a role model in media that they can relate to? I certainly didn't. Again, it's just a comment he's making about the social stigma (even in the 21st century) of homosexuality.

They're not going to start changing the sexuality of well established characters to make a point (this annoys me to no end, that and creating a gay character whose whole characterization is that they are gay. Would they do that for straight people? No).

All jokes aside, I get his point. There hasn't been a homosexual super-hero. On the same note, what if there is one? Has Miles been established yet? I mean, maybe they don't need love interests. Maybe Marvel can surprise someone by saying someone like Miles is indeed gay, because he doesn't really have an established sexuality. It's not like it needs to be focused on, maybe it can just be deemed and let alone for a bit.

I don't see why not. I personally believe in everyone getting their fair share. I think it would be good for one of the big two to work on a character like that. He doesn't need to be sporting rainbows or pink everywhere, or need any stereotype. Maybe just make him a unique character, and have him be homosexual. Nothing wrong with such an idea.
