my friend keeps saying that when I turn off items

it's weird cause he hates them too... he also hates moving stages or stages that can hurt you......

Fox is a dangerous character.

So you have to be prepared. I play as Marth, and even though he's weak to characters that uses guns, I can at least defend myself against any of his fast attacks.

I totally hate most of the stages that can hurt you.  The old metroid stage with lava ok fine, pits or a floating platform fine.  It's the stages that flip, change, a scrolling stage, a race track, or are stupid like fighting on flowers that are just plain bad.  I end up just turning them all off when we play 4 player.

That's not TRUE!!! Don't forget FALCO!!! jk but in all seriousness, there are good chars besides FOX, FALCO, AND MARTH. There's Cpt. Falcon, Samus, Dr.mario, and Peach. So yeah, it's not just fox....

Just because you can beat your very weak friends with Pichu doesn't mean you're boss with him.
Such a thing is impossible as he is obviously the weakest character in the game.

OH RLY??!!!! Ik his recoil is horrible (trust me, I learned the hard way), but my "friends" you say aren't weak. They're actually pretty d@mn good at the game, if you've seen them in person. Also, NO MATTER WHAT CHAR IS WEAK, A PLAYER CAN BE GOOD WITH ANY CHARACTER AS LONG AS HE/SHE IS PLAYING CORRECTLY! Besides, I'm may have said that since I just started with Pichu, but the fact in the matter is a character in the right hands can be powerfull. Don't just state something you don't know in person. In additon to that statement, I have this issue where I can't use qoute on quote "top tier" or good chars correctly. I remember in brawl (as an example that has happened to me), I tried using marth and pit but I couldnt handle them, so I got my butt kicked. however, using a char I never really used (Olimar from Pikmin), I decided to use him for fun, yet I privaled STRONGLY against the best players in the room, and defeated them. Even R.O.B became a great asset to my team, and Toon Link as well (though he was my best char from the begining). I'm a backwards person (TRUST ME), so don't just declare something "impossible" to be impossible as miracles do happen. Lastly, I can argue that I perfer Pichu over chars like Marth, Roy, peach, Link, and even sometimes Fox and Samus! The point is, don't judge so quickly...

I've played smash bros melee since it came out. Just because I knew how to use Roy like a boss didnt mean I could beat one of my friends who was a godlike Marth player (not as good as Mew2King or Ken but close).

It's also really stupid to tell people they aren't good because of they character they've picked. It's an awesome way to suck the fun out of things, but other than that, it accomplishes nothing. Let people play who they want to play and don't worry about it.

Normally, I wouldn't care about a discussion about the merits of each character on the roster and who is, statistically, superior. However, this took a real quick dive into "No, you suck and so do your friends" territory, and that's just kind of bulls***.
