Even if the clone was from that oh so precious Melee

You know what my biggest fear would be?
If Pichu from Melee ends up being playable, but not Roy Elwood.
I friggin hate Pichu and how it is basically a more useless Pikachu, but seeing that a CERTAIN SOMEONE (yeah, I'm talking about you, Pittoo) ended up being playable, my fear is probably very likely to happen.
And just thinking about it makes me sad and angry!

Lol, because it was new like three months ago. Nintendo said in the direct that those who purchase and register both Smash for 3DS and Wii U on their club Nintendo accounts will get his for free for both versions when he comes to the game in Spring.

Well, okay. Only the Roy bit is true, because with the vote, a crap-ton of japanese people will vote for Roy Elwood, because he's pretty much the Melee favorite in Japan, from what I have heard.
About Lip, I thought that many people wanted to see her as a playable in Smash.

I agree with you on the "no" towards Ryu, but not on the "no" towards Roy.
Roy was my main in Melee, so I am glad he returns.
Plus, when he was playable in Melee, his game wasn't even out yet.
Now that his game is out, he could have different moves and wont be a Marth clone anymore.
And even if he's gonna keep his Melee moveset, Roy to current Marth (not Melee Marth) would be then the same thing like what Luigi is to Mario: Semi-clone with a twist.
In short words: Roy is a better Marth "clone" than Lucina, that's for sure. And besides, you can never have enough Fire Emblem representation!

Yes, we already have Mega Man representing Capcom. I think it'd be unfair for Capcom to have two reps.

And no I don't want them to even it out by giving us a second Sega character and 2nd Namco character

I, on the other hand, would have loved a playable Klonoa as a 2nd Namco rep.
Seriously, nothing wrong in 2 reps for guest companies as long as the majority of characters are still Nintendo creations.

I finally cracked and bought a wii u with Smash brothers.  I like the game, it's a improvement over the last two games I'll say that.  Nintendo needs to have more old school characters for DLC from the 8 bit era.  And add in the repander of the N64 smash levels.  Or at least make the downloadable custom levels have a search of something the interface of the online downloadable levels is terrible.
