KFM Update - Rage Video!!!

Hey guys it's been a while.

Now that I am back, I've wanted to work on my own version of Kung Fu Man for a while now. I know I can completely improve his game play and thus far I have done that. The default Kung Fu Man feels slow and is lacking in most aspects overall. So I've pretty much re-coded everything or improved areas that were poor performing. I've left a couple of  default things in there like a few CLSN's and the throw. I've just changed some Vels for the throw to make it look a little better.

His main features are:

-Smoother transitions between combos
-More combo ability than before
-A power charge
-New Intros and Win poses (not yet implemented).
-2 New super moves ~ His KF upper super has been removed.
-An offensive counter attack
-A tactical back dash during combos to mix things up
-And something of a trademark for me - See the video below

At the current stage of progress he's missing a few sounds and some FX (mainly dust). I'm desperately looking for an Akira Yuki voice pack as I think it would fit him perfectly, but I cannot find one anywhere on the internet which is ridiculous. So untill I find a proper voice pack I could use for him for now it's a mixture of similar sounding voices.

Here is a video of the new feature available "Tactical Backdash".



The Tactical Backdash is pretty cool for confusing your opponent. By pressing lp + lk together during a basic attack you can cancel out of it with a backdash. During the landing state of the backdash by pressing an attack button you have different options. Punch will launch a KF palm, where any 2 punches will use the EX version. Pressing kick will use a new flying kick special and 2 kicks will display an EX version.

The KF Counter may change over the course of time once I can find a decent sprite editor.

Finally, you can see from the first video KFM has a Shin Shoryuuken type super move, his next new super shown in this video is "Fist of Fury" along with a little suprise/teaser.

 @-) when done this guy...lando must have him upon release! your doing amazing work BC. i wasnt expecting anyone to revamp Kung Fu basic dude like this. awesome bro.

question: how many other supers you plan to add him that wont be based on any of his older moves once you get a sprite editor? any plans?

Thanks man,

Initially I planned for him to have 3 supers and a  XD|| (Rage) lol. Sprite edit wise what I'm looking for is a powercharge animation to which I have reference for, an intro with Suave dude kidnapping his girlfriend, I also have a reference for that. Other edits would be for his Rage if I wanted to improve or change something.

As far as another super goes, we will see.. Also for a future note - after I finish this character I'm going to make a Suave Dude and Eventually KFM's Evil Clone.

I'm willing to pay an artist/sprite editor to create sprites for me.

I'm using the 1.0 KFM but not the 720 version. My .SFF has been recoloured or my palette rather, so if someone was to give him a powercharge anim it would need to be used from these colours:



Here is my reference for the powercharge that I'm looking for. It's a little fast but it shows what I'm after.

Currently I'm working on the EX version of his KF counter. It will be a triple hitting move based on Akira Yuki's 3 hit combo from VF 5. Luckily I don't have to edit anything which is cool.

smart Idea using some stuff from Akira. makes sense. But you know what? you should try to do a smart palette with Akiras clothing for KFM haha. the cut off sleeves. etc.

Just a verbal update at the moment.

-Added forwards and backwards roll
-Added dodge with attack options.
-Added a temporary power charge animation until I get the one mentioned a previous post.
-Added a couple of new voices from Akira Yuki.

Breaking News!

Decided on his rage, I hired an artist for this one, but I promise it will be awesome once it's done right... I predict it to be the best Rage I ever made!  :O*D
