Hello there. Time for some progress report:

First, results the polls I've published
- Spiderman's last boss: MYSTERIO
- Underwater NPC: Andromeda
- Gun in Cap's alternate mode: Bucky
Thanks everyone who woted :)

Second, from the SurveyMonkey pool, the top 3 most liked characters ;)

Hulk is no surprise to me, since he is the strongest and easiest character to play with (and I am a huge fan of the chracter). I am glad people liked Thor, becaue I like him a lot too. My big surprise was Quicksilver - I wasn't expecting people liking him so much :) This games exists thanks to him (and my friend Doom), because it was the first thing Doom had edited for this game.

And the top 3 most disliked characters :(

I think, in Black Cat case, it's thanks to the fact she is weaker than the rest of the chracters (which is expected to be). Emma was never my favorite (even on Comics). But Brand got me. She was the hardest character to code and took a lot of effort to be done. I think the result is based on how hard is to play with her (she is one of the hardest character to play with), because she is very tactical and you have to think before move.

Third, game general updates:
- Revised all characters life, offense, defense, damage, speed and power values. Many characters has quicker combos now, like Vision.
- Fixed almost every mentioned bug (and others I got while playing), like dodge moves not been invincible.
- Improved all jumps. Now its safier to jump and do attacks, since the colision boxes are now smaller.
- Improved effects for some characters moves, like lighting over Thor body

- Red Hulk now can unleash/use heat in some attacks, like in his Special and Grab Forward moves.


- Some new enemies added
Heavy Infantry

And I need a good name for this one


I hope to post more news soon but, for now, this project is not my main focus.

I will stick with "Masked Mauler", but I will leave "Toxicator" for other enemy with toxic abilities.

Now Black Cat's Avenger Power doesn't fails anymore on bosses, even if they are airborn, because she starts the move with a Roundhouse kick, which lifts the enemy a little :)

And her combos and grabattacks are faster too.

Also, I've included keyboard keys (and made the last frame stay for more time) in the How to Play

Some more progress:

Captain America
- Buc ky mode done. On this mode (selected by palette), his freespecial (shield throw) is replaced with a pistol shoot, and his chargeattack (shield bash) is replaced with Shield Throw.


- New backthrow animation - that classic monkey flip throw


Thor
- Now he finally throws that damn hammer ;)

(works as his chargeattack and one of his combo finishers)

Black Cat
- Now you can chain her Avenger Power from Juming attacks and it won't fail anymore, even on bosses.
- Her normal attacks are now faster.

Spider-Woman
- Finally, her alternative Avenger Power is done. She has two Avenger Power - Bioeletric Discharge and Web Swing Carnival, which changes based on which palette (costume) she is using

- She can combo her Avenger Power from her jump attacks too.

To finish, a preview of Hulk's new Gamma Stomp. He is always so nice with his enemies, lol

Thanks everyone. This update is taking more time than I expected, because I almost have no time to touch it - I am deadly busy in RL and with commissions (I should release something soon ;) )

Some more updates:
- All chars now have announcer voices (thanks, AGAIN, to ShockDingo and his amazing voices).
- Spider-woman has an alternate hyper if she touches a not valid target, like a non-grabable target, obstacle or too big enemy (so she won't grab and toss a giant Sentinel). She creates a web wrecking ball and smashes the target.


- Now Black Cat and Brand are less open to damage when executing their anti-air moves, since they fall faster on the ground.
- The same logic was applied to Spider-Woman Anti-air move (think in something like Chun-Li's spinning bird kick, but going upward). She does a short jump and stops if there is no target. But if the move connects, she continue to goes upward.


- Hammer Head (boss) now have physical attacks (guess what: a headbutt).

Saddly, no. This is why I made that pool. I would love to include her, but people had decided for Andromeda.

Spider-Woman codes are giving me a hard time, because both modes have specific points, like:
- Fly / no fly
- Venom Blast / Web
- Poison resistance / no resistance

I almost splitted this character in two different characters - this would cut the script work in half, but would increase the normal work in 100%, since I would need to make new attacks for her to make both versions unique (and we are already using that base for the NPC version). So I think I will stick to that.
Plus, I noticed that there are other versions which can use Venom Blast, so maybe I will let 2 or 3 palettes for each mode.

Right now, I am trying to code a different flying mode for both modes, since some modes can't fly.
After that, I will work on some enemies to finally release the so-called-quick-update :)

For the next release (which I have no date yet), we will have two new playable characters: MoonDragon and Colossus.


MoonDragon will be available on the Original Guardians of the Galaxy level (where we will have other GOTD characters, but the original ones like Yondu, Major Victory, etc) and Colossus will appear on the Sentinel stage.

Hmm i never heard of Moondragon before. I'ma have to look her up and Colossus that's what's up but he kinda looks funny to me..idk i think it's the way his stance is i guess..but either way progress is looking nice! O0

Yeah, I agree. Moondragons skin looks a bit red-ish, but otherwise looks great, but colossus stance looks like he´s in mid-air. Probably it´s his legs that are positioned a bit funny.

- Finally I manage to set different sky cycles to Spider-Woman based on which mode she is using at the moment - Venom Mode (palettes 1, 2 and 3) or Web mode (palettes 4, 5 and 6)


-Each mode has some different moves, like freespecial, aerial freespecial, fly mode or not and Avenger Power (hyper move).
-I am finishing her attacks in sky cycle and she is done.

Some few news of the next RELEASE:

Sauron is an excelent idea, cool sprite also! Adding Hercules is a great decision, some people kind make fun of him (like aquaman) but I actually like the character. aybe it is just me, but his head looks a bit big in porportion to the body. And yes, I know he wears a helmet!

I have just few news, because I am facing some very hard moments at my life:

Good news: Spider-woman is done, finally  :o

New animation - Low hit

This is an idea which is on my mind since ages - to make some attacks hit low, triggering new animations, kinda like in Final Fight.
After some tests, I managed to find a quick way to do this animation for some enemies :)

It's a tiny detail, but I like to include those things.

Also, a friend of mine is editing more frames to Colossus, and making this skin more metal-like:


Although Marvel made a big mess with characters sizes -  in comics and in games -, I think we managed to make it right:

(yeah, Hercules is way smaller than Hulk)

Nice touch with the low hit attack and colossus looks really good, major improvement since your last post. It´s great to know that despite having done so much already you still have the ability to add little touches like that.
Sorry to hear about that rough patch you´re going through, I wish you the best, friend and remember after the storm, the sun keeps on rising. Just take your time and if you need anything, please don´t hesitate.
This is just nitpicking, but I would make hulk just a tiny bit bigger (just a tad), without compromising the sprite of course.
Like you have mentioned it really depends on the artist and even Marvel has never come across to actually establish some of their characters size, but it is just my opinion!

I tried to make this by code, but since we use black borders on the sprites, they get fancy when animated. If I scale it manually, this will be less evident, but I still need to check all the animations (the worst case is always the idle pose).
