I've been working on an Arrow System for Hawkeye. The image below explains how it works.


There are other ideas still to be coded, like tar/glue arrow, hook and wire, etc.

WoW that's just brilliant. The net arrow looks to much like a spider web though, I would paint the trap purple but that's just me.

Hum, I will think about it. The color is easy to change. And yes, it was originally a spider web :)
I have more ideas for arrows, but I will save some of then to Yondu.

I've been busy, but I managed to add grab for Hulk



His throw is not scripted, but will be on the future. Maybe I won't add grab for ALL chars, just for the big ones or skilled chars

yeah, because when I pick a big guy to play (I always pick the big guy), I want to grab and smash the enemies

Video preview of Emma Frost, which is a guest char in Avengers United Battle force.

She has a normal mode (where she can use her psychic powers) and Diamond Form mode, where she can't use her normal powers, but gets many benefits: more power, more defense, new moves and a super armor. Her mental powers doesn't works on non-human enemies. She still hit then, but she can't stun robotic enemies.

Plus, preview of Madame Masque (codes by Beastie) and a little part of Spiderman's stage.

man can't wait for this game, me and my cousin bought this for sega from a comic shop back as youngsters.  Not until a few months ago did I know it was a arcade port.  now O is giving this a massive update that only could wish for back in the 19naughties

I have some really good news:

1- Jhfer is making some cool smart palette for us. This is Emma Frost


Maybe I will change her moves when she is on her Black Queen palette.

2- I've been remaking the HUD of the game, to make it les BOR-ish. This is the final result:

Maybe I will use the trick of icons so the bars would be behind the the hud. When I made it, I will change the icons to shared palette.

3- On the image above, you can see Hawkeye palettes in action. The left on is his "Heroes Reborn" outfit, the other is a classic one.

Each char now have 4 palettes, and each one comes from an actual outfit of the char.

Finally, Beast got his hyper move: He calls Reinforcement from his labs.
The robot fight for itself, attacking the enemies and obstacles. You can call another one once your powerbar is full again.

Plus, you can see the new HUD in action :)



What's next?
  • Fix Hawkeye's bow sprites
  • Fix Vision's sprites
  • finish Hulk's moves.
  • Fix some images at the title screen

Then I think we would release a public beta to see people reaction.

I've been busy as hell, but I am making little improvements:

- Now the enemies doesn't walks in groups like zombies
- I am adding grab for Beast (waiting Doom to finish the sprites)
- nothing too fancy, but I changed the icons borders to be not so squared

About grab, while on the original game everybody grabs, I don't think I will use it. I can't see people like Vision doing grabs.

But this could be a problem: People like Captain America are VERY skilled on hand-to-hand combat. Would it make sense to him not grab?

yeah, I plan to do the following:
- Big guys can grab, grabattack and throw (even special throws)
- Skilled guys can grab and grabattack only.
- non-skilled guys can't grab at all.

Yes, some other chars will have grab and grab attacks, but not fancy Throws (or not throws at all) like Black Panther and Iron Fist. And there will be people with scripted slams, like Hulk, Beast, Hercules, etc. Hercules, for example, will be like King on Tekken

I asked to Doom edit more Beast frames, so he could execute some grabattacks


My goal is to release a public beta in a month.

Some more news:

- Hulk now have a new grab system. After grab, each direction + attack does a different move. Jump button does a second grabattack. Down+attack makes a Hulk's classical move :)

- Foward +attack is the scripted slam (not finished yet). And I have a very cool idea for this, I just need to figure how to code it (and I know I will pm Bloodbane for it, lol).

- Each char will have a unique spawn anim (no drop enemies anymore). Hullk comes from the sky doing a stomp (anything on the stomp fx area gets damaged), War Machine comes flying and shooting his shoulder machine gun, etc. Think like Cadillac & Dinosaurs.



- Hulk down up attack move is done, but I need to make a video to explain it.

Thanks. Yeah, I am loving this engine more and more everyday. While it have some limitations and we need to think different of the way we do things on mugen, there are many aspects where I like it more than Mugen.

I don't think I will quit from mugen, at least not now.

I've been working on Tiger Shark, which will be the first boss. His AI is almost done (who knows my works knows that I never make anything too easy).

I plan to make a new stage just to fight him, I have some cool ideas to test.

Finally I managed to code something I wanted since I decided to do Tiger Shark:

When you fight him, he (and only him) can go into and out from the water whenever he wants to. Each time he dives into the water, he appears in a different location, and jumps to attack you. And how much he stays underwater...is random too, so no pattern to guess.





You can't hit him while on the water (neither when he is jumping into the water, you can hit him just once he is jumping out from the water), and he can call reinforcement which will jump from the water too. By the way, he can call those reinforcements even when he is fighting you on the pier.

I need to add some water effects on the pier and I need to find a better water splash, but I liked the result.
