Mugen in 10 years
« on: April 29, 2013, 09:12:45 AM »
This is a topic I saw on MFG by TRUEmicash and I want to share here too:

Mugen has come along way from what it used to be.
From Politics to the creations themselves, everything has seemingly evolved.  Mugen 1.1 is on the horizon but as usual, Elecbyte has apparently vanished, yet again.  We've come a long way without their presence for the most part but I often wonder where Mugen will be in the future.

Where do you think the community will be in 10yrs?  Will time repeat itself (A change/shift of politics/creations/ideas)?
Will an alternative to Mugen, such as ShugenDo, arise and take it's place?
Thoughts?

What can Shugendo do that Mugen can't? And vice versa?

Who knows. :-??
Some will move on and give up the hobby cause of real life and others will stay.
MUGEN isn't as popular as it used to be. I think we'll see a lot less thieves and warehousing.
There will always be leechers though.

I do not agree. I keep hearing this since forever :)

Well, I will have 45, which would mean 24 years of Mugen, something I doubt I will reach.
(though I thought I would not come to 10 years, lol)

...and Spec Ops and Megaman Bit of Destiny will still be wips :)

WOW 10 more years? I spent the first 10 around mugen not even saying anything but downloading stuff. lol  just these last 3 and half i started to speak in forums openly. lol.

i think mugen in 10 years will evolve with hopefully things getting better in not just atmosphere but more quality in works. who knows everyone might be spriting High Res characters and stuff by then only. lol No more ripping company stuff but actual custom creating. who knows but it will be exciting to see how it goes.

for me in 10 years..thats 23 years of mugen  too, i will have more than likely.,..retired. i will be almost 50...49 to be exact. lol.  thats grandchildren and grandpa age for me. relaxing in my easy chair and watching football games on tv and having the lil squirts come around asking grandpop Lando for a 5 bucks.  lol . but i shall always be a gamer till my last breath.

my contributions to mugen will be 2 full games, one based on company stock and one all custom original...and with far less characters lol, one or 2 bor games and maybe 3 solo single releases and i am done........maybe. >:D

may mugen live on forever and be one of the greatest hobbies to ever exist in gamer history.

Wow I remember back in 07 when I first saw MUGEN on YouTube. Man, those were the days, like I would just go in search of THE rarest MUGEN characters I could find possible thanks to warehousing. Atlhough stuff like that is gone now (thank goodness, one of them was even being PAID) it's likely I won't be leaving anytime soon, and I'm too stubborn to leave anyway because it's MUGEN that was responsible for my Pixel Artist roots, and I still am a Pixel Artist today. It's just that I'm devoid of any ideas at the moment and I'm in desperate need of new ones along with better Pixel Artist skills.

And Lando, you'll be the coolest gramps any child could ask for. I'll be 28 in 10 years also, so I have a long way to go.

lol cool Silvern. i pray too that i be called Cool Gramps Lando...just dont want to go broke handing out money.  :D

i have to say too My actual start doing something in mugen learning to sprite is because of the old passion i had when i was a lil kid drawing stuff. and wanting make a game character. Now older and into doing something in mugen I had 3 to now 4 great sprite artists give me good nudges, advice and hard lessons to practice to become one day a great pixel artist.  I find the culture of mugen in 10 years will grow as long as we always show something to each other to learn, build and pass down the knowledge. Strive to take mugen in the next 10 years to somethjing no one would dream it could be . Its always a hobby we all do find dear to enjoy and with new folks coming into the foray , i think new ideas will come to make it reach that next plateau in evolving  the skills, the community presence to keep coming in and overall learn to enjoy no matter where you decide to stand in the mugen hobbyist community as a creator of any kind of content or fellow downloader.  keep at it Silvern doing anything you want to do at your own pace. You can only get even more better . ::salute:: So says The Lando...aka..The One Day Cool Gramps. lol  :cool
