Cool i thought he was a bit short great design though. Think you captured his face pretty darn good. My edit may be a lil tall though lol.

Hi twin, really intriguing wip you started! I liked the New 52 comic, and Aquaman is the right choice out of all N52 roster.. really nice! ;)

Belt isn't perfect. If anyone wants to try to improve the belt, give it a try. I am aiming though for the New 52 style belt. I may try to make his orange armor look like it has scales. Will need to find a quick way to do that. Maybe there's something in Photoshop I can do.
About the belt, when i'll have a bit of freetime (here now is deep night, tomorrow i've work) i'd like to move a bit on the right (from my viewpoint), it isn't well centered. About scales, i used a little trick on an edit of mine, a cvs styled monster (a merman!) so if you want i'll post it here as reference.. and if you want to use ps for some filters.. %%-

Anyone know where I can find water effects and sprites? I'll be needing some of that. lol
For waves (the classic ones), you can find them on DarkStalkers' Rikuo\Aulbath character. Nice other water effects are on Samurai Shodown III' Sogetsu Kazama. I still should have a good water effect compilation, tomorrow i'll search it  ;D

About legs, like trexrell i had some doubts about proportions, because seeing the arms and the legs, the legs looked a bit short (seeing a guy body proportions in a lying position, the hands fall only a bit over the groin area  :| ...in your edit, the hands catch the knees ???).. But seeing as the community looks the legs in a positive way, i'll defer it  :-" (for now hihihi)

@AncientBehemoth999: Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it. I've been working on the belt a bit. I also noticed the buckle not being centered quite right. The legs, I keep making taller, so don't go by what you have seen on this forum. I'm continually working on the legs to not make him too short. :P

Thank you for the references to water effects. I have a sprite sheet of Rikuo and will look for Sogetsu Kazama.

 ;) Take a look at this guy from Jojo's Bizarre Adventures. His name is Ndol. He has a lot of water movements, or could be edited like that. Don't know if they could fit well with Aquaman but anyways, here is the stuff. Hope it could help you in some way.

Dude, that's awesome! I can use this. I plan to include Mera in a hyper, she controls water.
Plus, with Aquaman currently the as King of Atlantis, I believe he controls the oceans and weather.

Glad to be helpful  :P I planned an hydroman WIP in the past and I thought in using some of this sprites. But I dropped it in the " too much ambitious projects" basket, hehehe.

His stance, get hits and basic movements are almost finished.
Stance needs legs/belt area animated a bit. Needs a sprite for laying on ground. Working on walks right now.
I hate having to sprite walk animations. I was thinking of making him float over water for the walk animation instead. I know it's cheating, but it's much easier than spriting 10+ sprite just for the walk animation. :/
But that's not totally out of the realm of possibility for Aquaman, right? As king of Atlantis, he can control water I think.

I totally agree, the walk / run is the worst part of spriting a character.  I cheated with Airman but did the run for my other characters.  Aquaman looks nice in the new 52 style.

That's a bit much. lol I'm going to avoid seahorses and such, since for the New 52 rarely has he used any kind of sea life to help him. Seahorses just seem out of character for the New 52 Arthur.

I pondered possibly using some kind of giant sea monster for a hyper. Will need to think that one over. Would need to find sprites for such a things as well.

This Aquaman is cool, if you want to collaborate with Twinmage's WIP, please, no Superfriends reference because he doesn't talk to fish.

Also, I got various catchphrases for him:
  • "I'm the king of Atlantis, I answer to no one!", directly from Injustice.
  • "You want a shark, here's the shark!"
  • and the aforementioned "I don't talk to fish."

Update: I think I've got all the get hits done. Special states, like Dizzy, frozen and electrocuted not done yet. So maybe not. =/

Will need to sprite the dashes and will have basics done. Then I can focus on attacks. :P
