I liked wind waker myself too, it's what's Skyward Sword SHOULD have been.

My only beef is that this would have been the time to, IDK.... Remake MAJORA'S MASK?
They're probably waiting until Groundhog Day to announce it

What. The. f**k.

Easy enough, if you don't want the extra features then don't pay the extra $1.00.

:D :D

The first one was all about timing, combo's, and teamwork.  The other two felt more like button mashers to me.  They also were quicker and felt so much more random with everything going on, plus the pokeballs/items and the environment hazards to boot.  Then the hyper pokeball in the most recent is so unfair.
I would so buy a Smash 1 remake with more characters in it.

^^(PM)^ I would agree with the button mash thing.  You could be a 40 year old who played for six months and lose to some 5 year old who never played but pushes "A" really fast.

Maybe he's never heard of all the combos people were able to do in that game? from his posts.. IDK, It's like he's never even googled the game once.

Considering I am VERY good at the first game... it was about grabbing and spikes.

Melee was about combos and timing. doing some of the more advanced techniques, like wavedashing and L-canceling, require perfect timeing to pull off.

ALSO: Items? lolwut?

Anyway... why the hell remake Wind Waker? I don't get it.

and a new yoshi game made by the people who made epic yarn? I hope to god it's actually a GAME, unlike epic yarn, which was just terrible.

Dunno just didn't care for the other two, maybe because it's because I put to much play time into the first.   :-??
I still stand by my statement that I didn't like the gamecube version.

The one thing I really dislike about Melee is the fact that it feels so unprofessional. Brawl and 64, while less competitive, feel much more like the developers knew exactly what they wanted. Melee feels like a fan game almost. In fact, as much as I love it, the Smash series as a whole has NEVER felt as defined and polished as Nintendo's other top games. There's always something that makes me think "WTF? Nintendo EAD would never put something like this in a game." That said, each one has its strengths and each one has its flaws, and hopefully the Wii U version takes the best from all 3, along with new ideas, and makes the best version yet.

All of the early GameCube titles have a very peculiar feel to them that doesn't quite match up with what Nintendo was doing before or what they are dong now. Melee, Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion, WaveRace: Blue Storm. They've all got a unique "GameCube" feel about them, and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Nintendo didn't quite understand the technology they were working with.

However, all of those games are great and I think it's because of that "GameCube" feel they have. They were special.

I suppose they did feel "unprofessional", but I think that has more to do with the developers having fun with what they were making. I don't get that impression very much anymore. I would kill to get a "GameCube" feel again.

Brawl introduced tripping, any further argument against Melee is automatically invalidated.

You arguing realism in a game where a master swordsman, a pink puff ball with an internal black hole, an electrically charged mouse, and a fat midget italian plumber fight it out in multiple locations and shoot each other with plasma guns that do no physical harm.

But realism is constantly used to praise the game.

"Look at the seam on Mario's jeans! It's so realistic!"

I'm sure using it against the game is also fair play.

The closest I ever came to relating RL to a game was a Army Tank simulator, and I said it was probably just as complicated as reality, but not as safe-feeling.

I think they just probably wanted a more competitive game, something that could be compared to traditional fighters. I've been playing competitively for years and I still haven't learned everything there is to know. You have to be so good at prediction, and timing and have to be able to input commands at ridiculous speeds. It shows in that special movie that came with the game. That Peach combo that they show you is just the tip of the iceberg, theres so much more to Melee. =P
