My suggestions
*Wolf's Rain
*Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (Or just read the FMA manga, which is mostly the same as the anime.)
*Digimon Adventures (The first 'season' of Digimon; don't bother with the second one, as it takes everything good about the first, and ****'s it.)
*Digimon Tamers (The third 'season' of Digimon; it's actually more of a separate show in and of itself, being set in a completely differnt continuity from the first two seasons, but I think it's even better then Adventure. It's more mature, designed not only for kids but also an older audience, and doesn't have the potty-jokes that Adventure had. I definitely recommend giving it a look.)
*Gundam (The first 'Gundam' show ever made.)
*Gundam Zeta (The direct sequel to the first 'Gundam' show ever made, and even better then the first, though you'll still want to watch the first show -- which is still pretty good -- to better understand Zeta.)
*Giant Robo. (Full of awesome; Awesome music, awesome animation, and awesome characters, with a pretty good story as well, which
also gets awesome one you gets a decent ways in.)
*Shin Mazinger Z. (It's a total reboot of the original Mazinger Z manga/anime from the 70's; this one was done in 2009, and (IMO,) is better in so many ways. The original MZ was just good simple fun -- enjoyable, but with not much too it -- but SMZ add so much; the characters are better then before, and there's some awesome new ones as well. There's much more to the story this time around too, and in general, it's just a really good watch that will hook you in. Oh, and it was made by the same guy who did Giant Robo.)
*Macross (What more can i say? As good as Gundam is, Macross (IMO) is even better, albeit differnt. As opposed to the politics and more serious nature of Gundam, Macross is more upbeat, and focus's more on how the war affects the character's personal lives and their character development. (Including a love triangle.) But the triangle in this show is actually
very well done, with the romance being both believable, as well as surprising near the end. But there's far more to this show then just romance, and by the end, if you don't feel
something, then you have no soul, plain and simple. Macross is an emotional powerhouse, and definitely warrants a look.)
*Armored Trooper VOTOMS (Now this one is a fairly obscure one. It was made around the same time as Macross, (1983-1984,) and like Gundam and Macross is a Space Opera&Mecha show, but at same time, it's very differnt than either. It's actually like a classic, old Sci-Fi novel, right down to it's setup. It's divided into 4 separate arcs, (13, 13, 11, and 12 episodes each respectively, not counting recap episodes,) with each arc having it's own beginning, middle, and end, but furthering the overall story. Our hero also isn't a whiny teen, like in both of the Gundam shows I mentioned. (But both teens develop overtime and become a lot less whiny, so check them out anyway.) Chirico is only 18, but has been trained a soldier ever since he was a child, so he's cold, only says what needs to say, and is also one of the most cool protagonists you'll find in a Mecha anime. But there's far more to VOTOMS then just a cool protagonist; the overall story is very mature and well-done, and the supporting cast are a likeable bunch. I'd definitively recommend checking it out.)
*Gurenn Lagann. (If you haven't checked this show out,
do it. Everyone and their mother practically knows about this show, and if you haven't seen it, you've been living under a rock. (No offense.) I won't say anything more about it, except for this; 'Kick reason to the curb, and do the impossible!" (Or, for those watching the dub, 'Kick logic out, and do the impossible!'. Just watch it; you
won't regret it.
*Big O (Essentially, Batman with Giant Robots. Okay, there's more to it then that. The show's practically oozing with the style, and the character's are memorable and likeable. There's also the overarching theme of memories; how they can define who we are, but also whether or not we really need them. All in all, a great watch.)
...And i think that's it for now. Hopefully, you'll get some use out of this list.
