The root of all internet arguments?
« on: July 25, 2012, 03:15:23 PM »
On thing many sites have in common is the ability to comment on something in some way whether it be through a forum, a comment section at the bottom of a page, or though messenging. The ability to comment allows many to openly express the opinions, or share discussions on subject matters, or just make attempts at random internet humor.

But we all know that it can almost guaranteed that in almost any comment section of anything there is a storm of racial slurs and name-calling waiting to brew. I've been thinking what is actually the biggest culprit in Internet arguments?

its all of the reasons you noted. On the net we've all typing. So its hard to tell if so one is joking or not. Also there are way to many ways to take things. Its not the same as stand next to someone talking or on the phone. Voice pitch can tell you if someone said its bad and if they mean it bad as in aweful or bad as in good.  <_<|...|

Thats it right there in a nut shell...the core. i already been through that on FB once and i aint never gettin sucked into crap like that again. Its better to debate about something verbally ive learned. me and a person stopped being friends over that. i mean he was a friend of a friend and was a moron (and everybody saw that) but still, how i was debating he was taking it harsh. i was just making facts like he was on his end about movies and games and he got uptight after a while lol

never again smh
Lots and lots of supers so f*ckin what

hmmm its actually alot of things, some stuff if not most aint even about the subject itself for debating. those people just like to be ...trolls.  just say stuff to get they own thrills going. some say things just to wanna say something racial. Its easier for those tards to say it over the net than to my face cause then it would meet my fists and timb boots! lol.

i have read a ton of arguements cause of misunderstandings, wordings/jargon, overnerdness of super fandome and the like. I been in a couple here and there but i always clown around and slide in a cool joke , it lightens the debate or the other person might take it seriously for no reason cause thinking i am being sarcastic.....ok might be but its all in good fun. The really good debates are healthy but its when someone wants to be a butt and start with name calling that derails the good discussions. i just try to keep out of most arguments these days. i just say if  ya got somethin to say to me ignorantly and  personal...say it to my ear or my face!  \-/o

I voted politics. There is a site called Fark.com, pretty big site, and it has all kinds of discussions, from Spiderman to Weird News to recent events. But there is a tab on there called Politics. It was literally wiped (twice) by the site creator because he was disgusted with what gets said in the comments section, from bigotry, to racism, to defending killers.

(Fun fact: Fark was also a 2 time Jeopardy category)

Basically since you can get away with saying near anything on the internet, people will.

i chose "other"
reasons =
1. taking everything too seriously, i mean basically we are all people typing away behind a computer/phone... whatever, no need to fuss  :Terry

2. lack of respect towards one another is another, why dis respect someone you personally don't know, :-??

and 3. (my favorite) the heroes and show offs , always defending the views of their buddies, and the show offs who need to without a doubt prove you wrong (gotta luv that)  :rules:

there's my "internet argument" view

The fact that people are able to say anything they want from the comfort of their own home anonymously, and avoiding the face to face confrontation. :Terry
