Paul Anderson slams other game to movie Directors

Really paul?.. :| really?

http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/resident_evil_5/news/resi_evil_director_slams_other_game-movie_adaptations.html

Thats halarious of him to say they dont follow games source material..smfh lol

pot..kettle..oh and yeh black as hell man!

only 2 RE flicks were good to me for the ENTERTAINMENT and that was 1 & 3. thats it.
he f*cked up all the story lines. the first one from the gate was tainted. cmon No barry, no chris, no wesker, no jill? not even giant spiders?? But yet you have one suped up Revlon chick lol cmon man :-j. i let the man slide because there was HUNKs story in part 2 (of the game) so thats how i took it to have a peace of mind :-??. it seemed to be more based on the Umbrella soldiers story.

Other than that THE BEST near close game material i saw and liked was SILENT HILL. Been a fan of that series for years now and it seemed to follow the games material except they made it a woman as the lead on purpose. so if paul think hes special i beg to differ

You know what he did do well though, create a similar feeling to the game, which is what most video game directors miss, especially the Street Fighter movies. I want to see a Street Fighter tournament!

But with RE, there is hardly a connection between the source material story and the movie story, it's that far off.

He's got a point. What director could make a closer representation of Alice from the games?
For the record this is what she looks like in the games:

See, dead on.

Its too bad Kojima had to cancel MGS: The Movie. Christian Bale was pretty ready to go as Snake, and Kojima himself was going to have a say in it. :(

Yeh i can agree with you on that he made RE movies "fun & entertaining" to watch but for him to get that cocky and bash other directors on their "true source material" he needs to stop lol smh Ill give em props though he did well having all 4 movies have that much staying power where not one of em went straight to DVD haha. so hes lucky.

and omg..Street fighter?? my god 8=| can some asian director (may be the director of fearless or Iron monkey) PLEASE DO A STREET FIGHTER MOVIE?? i mean damn man capcom needs to step in and be like "yo we cant have no more butchering of our franchise on screen  :-w*Iceman ThumbsDown!*. its out of control now and wasting money"....I...also the same as you Acey would like to see a HOT street fighter tournament kind of flick....wtf is so hard making that movie?? Blood sport with Vandam was basically street fighter lol

i mean to each his own opinion. but so far the best video game movies ive enjoyed for what they were and me over lookin the whole fan boy bit of every detail of the flick are:

Silent Hill (was a decent campy horror movie for me as a horror fan. and digestable as a silent hill fan)
&
Hitman (i thought it would be worse and i never saw it in theaters because i was mad Jason statham truned the roll down.
But when i did get to see it pn dvd it was really entertaining FOR WHAT IT WAS....

horror and action they were good...

and no..silent is nothing like 1985 "Demons" for me in horror quality

and no..Hitman wasnt at all like Faceoff For me in hands down awesome action quality

BUT compared to the Bush*t double dragon movie and Super mario bros flick i was traumatized by as a kid gamer back then
they were kick @dd game to movie gems man!^^ lol

so now you tell me.. youd rather watch Hitman or you rather watch House of the dead??

I will say that I enjoyed the First Mortal Kombat flick that he directed. Yeah it was kind of dumb, but at least he used the Bulletpoints from the first videogame to thread the plot. However EVERYTHING since then, Paul has butchered without any mercy.   >:P

:D yeh true story on the butchering man. and wow i forgot he directed the first MK lol. maybe thats why i never really liked it smfh. But costumes were on point for sub and scorp though.

Im angered though that he doesnt really respect videogame franchises because with the great work hes done for these 3 films (although they are way out there on the violence..) he would be awesome f*ckin sauce if he took Resident Evil serious and did his version...PRAY NOT THOUGH..since he doesnt care about a good video game movie 8=|

pardon the paul anderson topic for a bit but heres Uwe best flicks

When I go to see a movie based off of a game or a game series... I care about being entertained.. not accuracy. I wasn't entertained very much by Resident Evil Extinction... it kinda... meh. It went way too far off the story line, and the only things I think it brought to the table were Wesker and old zombies... that's it... old, dry zombies... yaayy let's make a movie about that... >.< As far as people complaining about the character Alice... could you wake up for just 5 seconds? Would you seriously watch a movie if it had the exact same characters from the game(s)? I know I sure as hell wouldn't. I'd be bored to death. "Yayyyy! Wait... come to think of it, I did all of that in RE1.. wtf... That was a waste of my time. ugh..." I was entertained that they could create such a fresh character and have her have powers so she has more of a chance to survive. I think the first movie could have done very well with at least like Barry or something though you know... I very much so liked Resident Evil: Apocalypse. They brought A LOT to the table with that one, especially the cool Nemesis! Come on! You know you loved him! And of course Jill valentine and the guy with the custom guns (yeah sorry, don't remember his name :/ ).

I do agree with one poster above me though, and I will say that Silent Hill... was quite accurate as far as taking elements and pieces of storyline from the game. I hadn't played the games in a while, and it was nice (actually very scary....) to see the video game being represented in a movie. Resident Evil wasn't horrifying in any way to me though, and that's where i think they have failed with people.. besides adding the characters we know and love.. although they did big on that with apocalypse and afterlife so... SHUSH! and no we don't need giant monsters in the movies... Nemesis, yes. The water monster from re4... w/e you want to call it, no. Why? Because Leon should have already finished that part of his story.. he needs to come over and help Chris, Claire, and Alice and whatever is going with them. I'd actually like to see how they escape Jill and the Umbrella's soldiers grasp too.. because that was a LOT of helicarriers... you know...

So as far as game accuracy goes, with Paul Anderson... yeah.. he takes elements from the games but doesn't do nearly the best job i've seen with bringing them to the movies... hell the monsters we saw in Afterlife should've been in freakin Extinction... Extinction should've been Afterlife.

Final Fantas Advent Children is the best game to movie i ever seen and that was all CG! as far as live action.. the closest 2 was mortal kombat 1 and silent hill. but thats even by a stretch. People who be directors of Game movies should b fans of the games themselves they are directing and or at least play the dang things from begining to end to understand them. I myself , hate when a producer,/writer/directors , slash the original story of a game movie and make it into something different in some way and keep few core elements  ( RE series for an example) or just totally blows the beloved  game into a movie of epic WTF is this? ( KOF, SF and Tekken) .

This is when you know they just wanna make some cash, thats all. no fan service at all really.  Just make some dough and cash in on a games success. But they forget one crucial thing. Keep the elements of what makes the game what it is and translate that same epic greatness into movie format....or just CG the whole thing ( Tekken CG flik) and make it gooooooood. Some people favor storyplots , some people favor action flow to be like the game, other favor characters  to be exact portraits of their beloved characters . I say, gimmie it all!  if you cant give me the paying fan that much, then then they need to ask themselves these questions...why are you directing it? why are you writing it? why are you producing it?  They need to have more fan love for what they wanna make. If not live action than gimmie CG!

nuff said.
