Ok, just got back from the movie. I really didn't plan on watching it, but now that it's over, it was a good film. Good story, paced well, and the whole being in the 60's works out better than I thought. I only have one problem with it, which was totally validated by two cameo appearances: Emma Frost. It's not that she has a bad role or was acted poorly, in fact the character was done rather well I thought. My problem is with her being in it in the first place.
This movie is set in 1963. Origins: Wolverine essentially starts at the earliest 1976 because the opening scenes show Sabretooth & Wolverine fighting in Vietnam. Emma Frost is easily in her 30s in First Class, but in Wolverine, she's no older that 23, if even that given that Cyclops was still in high school. Paradox much?
I wouldn't mind if First Class was trying to simply reboot the entire series but it instead works itself to tie in with the X-men trilogy and the cameos validate that theory, which they did very well. So, her existence breaks the movie for me, because they've broken their own continuity.

PS: Let me save you some time, there is no special scene after the movie so no need to stick around once credits start rolling.

I thought the same thing when I saw the trailer.

Well atleast the movie's ok. Might see it with my friends this weekend.

Actually the movie is a reboot, well sorta. They decided that the Origins would not tie into First Class, so they can have a fresh start on a new story. Which is good since it erases the Origins from being conected to it. And if I remember correctly, since when the hell did Emma Frost's sister have mutant powers and be in love with Wolverine. Origins was full of lies. Thats Hollywood for ya

@ Dead Phoenix, this is not a reboot, go find some Bryan Singer quotes on this, this is a bonafide prequal. It was going to be a roboot but Singer came on as executive producer and fixed that mess right up.

@ G-Lux, In Wolverine: Origins, they never said that she is the White Queen, or Emma Frost, it was just a girl who happened to have diamond skin. Obviously when they made Origins they ment for her to be Emma Frost but since they never really committed to it they were prefectly free to use Emma elsewhere. Take this theory another step, in Origins Emma was Silverfox's sister, which is silly.

So I submit to the jury that in Origins, Kayla's sister is not Emma Frost (anymore).

I hope not, I expect they're not going to address that issue at all but whoever sees the movie first should tell us.

plus no matter where i searched before way back.. everywhere has her listed as...Emma Frost. plus i think its even in da credit. imma have to boot up my movie now.

but if what glux says is true then i am glad i dont get too heavy in marvel movie x men storylines cause they seem to screw up ALOT of stuff and nerf

of characters...for movie sake anyway. an awesome character ( juggernaut) should be ...awesome not beaten by .. a lil kitty.

oh ok,lol imma def have to check that cause now i am like all confused with the whole timeline thingy they got going on.

. for once i wish they ( movie industry) stick a lil more closer to the actual character comics storyplotsand timelines than do a whole change up and have new readers confused in a far stretched background and as well have dedicated fans of the characters and comics in an uproar in debates about it.i like how Watchmen was done and the Blade series. something like that even tho in 2 different approaches made Watchman and Blade series believable.

Just like how there was a kid who could teleport in the first X-Men movie, which was a reference to Nightcrawler, but they introduced Nightcrawler in X2 anyways. What's worse is changing the actress for Shadowcat in each X-Men movie.

yeah Acey, that whole changing of characters just lost me. i can understand movie biz a bit cause of fundings, contracts and of course directors not liking the original actors and replace them with other for more an active vocal roles but just axing a sorta loved character from the movie with a new one...can either go good or bad i guess.

which is why i am glad tody mcquire stayed spiderman ..for his 3, and blade for his 3. hopefully ron pearlman stays hellboy. too many supermen for me have come and go. and all the enuendo references of characters in x men flicks and then turn out to been nothing more than pipe dreams and super wishes just killed me. but i have to say...Nightcrawler opening scene in x2......awesome!

i also know as well to take those references to supposed could been characters in the previous movies of each other as a grain of salt thrown over the shoulder. in marvel there is always more than one teleporter, more than one psychic and psionic and so forth. but when it does resemble too closely toi a certain someone then it gets trashed in what you thought kinda throws off but the nightcrawler one basically sold it in x2.

I don't even mind when they do that because I can except a movie-verse co-existing outside the comic-verse. I can even excuse continuity error inside a comic universe because there are so many hands involved with development, story writing, etc. But how do you screw up movie continuity when there are only 4 movies prior? All you have to do is watch and analyze, doesn't take more than two days max.

I just saw it, i liked it.
No, Havoc is not played off as cyc's father, but they do make him older, so they switched the birth order. (Cyclops makes a breef camio in the cerebro sequence and he is much younger then havoc in the appreance)

The girl in the wolverene movie was called emma, but not emma frost.
But Wolverene should have been someplace else and would have had a different hairstyle then in his cameo in the movie.
I think they want to erase just the 2 bad x-men movies....
Cuz some of the goverment guys that were in x3 (i beleve) make their apprence in this one.

I wouldnt mind them retconning out the 3rd movie.

i was disappointed there was no stan lee or extra bit at the end of the movie.
