The ironic thing about this day, May Day, is that it's a holiday organized by Leftist groups, including but limited to Communists, Socialists, Unionists, etc.

So maybe the Communists were trying to help the US the whole time!   :o

To be completely fair, there's a good chance 9/11 wouldn't have occurred if the USSR assimilated Afghanistan.

Basically, Afghanistan wants help from the US, US obliges, Afghanistan deals the first killing blow to the USSR, they want a reward/help from the USA, USA says no, Afghanistan sends us a gift plane.  So either way we had it coming.   :-??

Good job troops. But this is far from over, the group may not have a leader but they still function. Like a chicken with out a head lol Though they might tear them selfs apart for leadership. Either way this fight isn't done with just yet, but time will tell...

Remember though, Al-qaeda has already been divided up into a variety of little factions, many who already discounted the efforts of Osama Bin Laden. In other words, they are already broken down internally in many ways. I feel there is a huge chasm between the type of man Bin Laden was and what I personally consider honorable and decent so I am very happy that he is finally dead and this landmark has finally ben reached, although it would be nice if he had a trial like Sadam before his inevitable execution.

I stayed up till 2:30 last night just watching coverage, and celebrating.

Unfortunately I come to work, and all the conservatives and righties around here are all off on a tangent that this is propaganda falsified to to help Obama's reputation, at a very convenient time.

CONSPIRACY!

No wonder I am always such a grouch. Some one always pees in my Cheerios!

The US got a tip about a currier for Bin Laden back in August. The US followed the lead and gather intelligence for the following months. On Friday the Navy Seal Delta force that had been assigned to this mission for the last 8 years was given permission to enter Pakistan by chopper and storm the compound that held Bin Laden. The mission was not to capture, but to kill Bin Laden. Bin Laden received a bullet to the head and in the following days the US confirmed the identity before reporting his capture and death. Bin Laden was buried at sea.

On Sunday evening US President Barack Obama confirmed to the world may of the details listed above. Bin Laden, an international terrorist, wanted initially by Interpol, and eventually by the United States for the 9/11 attacks is dead.

I believe this is a great day for the world.

Oddly enough, Hitler was also declared dead on May 1st.

All i wanna know is why everybody is jumping and cheering instead of thinking. This guy had to know his days where numbered....so chances are he has someone to take his place. If this guy planned was the head of an organized terrorism in Al-queda then he had to have some common sense. We need to ask what do we do next...I mean gas isnt gonna get any cheaper or anything. :\ Yeah its a good day no doubt but its kinda too early for celebration if ya ask me.

Bin Laden was replaced a few years ago, these day's he's only a figure head of Al Queada. They already have other leadership in place. But Bin Laden was the head of the organization when they committed the crimes in the late 1990s and early 21st centry.

Details on the other leaders and the dismantling of the Al Queada network is other news that has been going on for a long time. Al Queada is far from dead, but they have been crippled in many ways. I believe the most difficult part of U.S. operations is that the U.S. military as a whole tries to completely minimize civilian casualties where Al Queada kills many in the nations they reside in. Their either do it by chance in bombings ment to attack militaries, or as a part of fear in order to keep civilians from participating with foreign aid.

I hope they show the party infront of the white house all around the world, especaly in places where they would celebrate bin ladden in the streets.

I bet this is a huge boost in moral for the troups still over there!

Why? Because he was the head man behind the 9/11 attacks, and we finaly have some justice. Yes the fight isnt over, and there's more people to take down, but he's been a huge figure head for our enemys. Not only is their symbol dead, they dont even get to have his body, so they cant make a shrine to him or whatever. Its going to make our enemys mad and act rashly and get themselfs killed faster. The dude was a supervillan and our special forces took him out. I say its enough to celebrate. And to think that no one other then bin ladden and his croneys got hurt in the firefight, thats pritty awsome.

I think people are simply cheering because the 9/11 mastermind is dead.

Most of us know terrorism is still strong. Not sure his replacement will be as cunning, or creative as Osama, so who knows.

Most of us don't want a war with terrorists, this one in particular came at us, and we got him, thats the reason for the cheers.

Also NATO dealt some significant blows to Gadahfi as well this weekend so some pretty significant tyrants are on their way out.

Horrible things are still bound to happen, and I have no doubt there are people plotting revenge.

However today we celebrate for the moment.

It's up to you, do your own research and make up your own mind because no one here can do that for you. Because you can either pick a side or stand on the sideline.

No he's saying Gadahfi was a tyrant and a friend of the Bush family, which is only half correct. Just because the US maintains foreign relations with a ruling power doesn't make them good buddies. They are required to "play nice" though.

(blame Ziq for bringing Gadahfi into the dicussion  ;*)) )

LOL

I have no problem calling an American President a tyrant.

However Osama attacked b4 Bush became a tyrant. In effect we could say Osama is to blame for the billions of our tax payer money spent on going after islamic nations because of Bin Ladens actions.

Terrorist attacks are the acts of cowards. Killing innocents purposely is like a cheap shot to the balls.

I'm a Serb. The U.S. killed thousands in bombing Belgrade. However they did it as an attack, and an act of war. The people knew there was a risk in advance. Not that I think it was right, mind you. However there was no surprise.

Terrorist attacks are dirty, underhanded, and vile.

Acey's right

Gadahfi was never a friend, lets not mistake diplomacy for friendship.

Reagan bombed, and killed some of G's children, and family back in the 80's. I some how doubt he had much love for the USA. That is unless people believe that petty middle eastern tyrants place less value on life, and family.

Surely not!  :D

Freedom fighters dont fight like cowards.

Oh wait, who provided the weapons to fight the Soviets? Hmmmn I wonder.

No one is saying "thats all folks" dont fool yourself.

Funny how Islamic Radicals cry for help from the U.S. when a butcher like Milosevic beats them at their own game, but hate the U.S. when they dont need them.
