Moon released! Mars & Jupiter updated (4/22/2011)
« on: April 22, 2011, 05:56:09 PM »
Okay, after the horrible attempt at a joke with "Meatball Head," I give you the actual release of Moon.

Mars and Jupiter have also been updated.

Get them here: http://napoleonjonamite.webs.com/

Feedback greatly appreciated.

Maybe he'll be in Mugen someday.

I have received that one from MFG as well.

Also, I may need you do redo this hyper portrait, I received feedback stating there were remnants of the white BG left.

Maybe he'll be in Mugen someday.

*Judging from the screenshot alone, it looks like her feet are hovering off the ground, and doesn't look too nice, so maybe you should bring it down a few pixels.
*The background is also pretty damn ugly, no offense.  It looks Jpegy and too bland, especially considering her size.
*Character is a little wide for her size, you can fix this in the CNS, these codes in particular.

ground.back = 15     ;Player width (back, ground)
ground.front = 16    ;Player width (front, ground)
air.back = 12        ;Player width (back, air)
air.front = 12       ;Player width (front, air)

*Linking is inconsistent, unless you're going with completely accurate MvC (which allegedly is very difficult to emulate).  Such as, the punches all link into each other fine, but the kicks don't.
*Her dash back is simply an animation that looks like it has both after images and has movement.  I would erase the extra sprites and copy KFM's back dash.  As for making the afterimages a certain color, stick with the EX afterimages thus far.  The same applies for that other move where she summons sparkles.
*She has the guard push sprites, yet she doesn't use any.  Also, the standing weak kick can only be guarded low.
*This is just me, but flashier effects would look better here, since flashiness has some relation to girlishness, and Sailor Moon is notoriously girly.

*Man, how did I not see that. Will adjust.
*If you have a suggestion for one, let me know.
*Will look into it.
*Which kicks aren't linking properly? Standing or crouching?
*The afterimages are part of the backdash sprites. May swap out with other sprites.
*Crap, I think I forgot to make the anim for the guard push sprites. Will fix.
*I tried to avoid being too flashy because of the fear people would mistake me for a flash > substance author. Though if you have something to recommend, let me know.

Thanks for the feedback, will get to work.

Mercury and Venus will be worked on over the summer, and as of now, their sff files have been released on MFG and MI for new palettes.

*Alright.
*Hmm, I'm not entirely sure, but I was thinking maybe she could just use the background for the super startup, Last Blade style.  The horizontal Last Blade effects would look neat, since they were anime esque to begin with.  You could also add their colors (about 7 with BG) to her ACT files, so that each palette could use a different colored background.  If you want the background to be MvC style, as in during the super, I suggest you use the "improvised MvC2 background" that XCB's conversions use.  It's a classic, despite being a makeshift backgroung.
*Okay.
*Well, the standing kicks don't go weak>med>strong.  The other kicks work fine.
*Alright again.
*Take your time.
*Don't worry about being "overly flashy".  Unless your character is a perfect conversion or emulation of CvS2 or KoF, no one will take you seriously, so go all out with what you can get.  Remember, the first step to failure is pleasing everybody.

*I'll probably go with XCB's improv MVC style BG, though making it work so it doesn't look awkward after the enemy gets knocked away from it will be the challenge.
*Man, and here I thought I dealt with that. Easy fix, will take care of that (Especially since it may have hit all of the scouts released).
*I hear you, though I want to do my best to somehow end up on the map (Making perfect CVS or KOF conversions is not in my cards anyway).

Also, on an unrelated note, would you happen to know anyone who can code a decent AI? I had to remove the old AI from these scouts while making the changes I did, and since having an opponent that just stands there is no fun... Yeah...

Maybe he'll be in Mugen someday.

Infinite is pretty good at AI making, but most people have moved to 1.0, and it will have an activation disadvantage.  Maybe he could help ya.

*XCB didn't make those effects, Nobuyuki did.  As in the guy who made MvC2 Magneto, way back when.  I suggest you using a helper, since it's easier to handle.  My edit of Bass should help you here, coding is easy to understand and chop out.  Login
*Eh, effects don't make a character alone, nor does game play.  If you took a character like Evil Ryu and wiped his effects, he'd be pretty...lame.  Effects and gameplay make the character.

*I also noticed that when Moon recovers from the launcher, she'll keep spinning.  Maybe this will also apply to other characters, but I don't know, since I just ran her through FF.
*Her jumping neutral animation loops, especially during the super jump.  Also, her back jump animation has her rolling forward, and looks odd.  Animation 0 has frame 0,0 appearing at the beginning and end of the animation, making it look odd.
*Also, I suggest you use one set of CLSNs for her.  What I mean, she uses the same ones in her standing animation for her other animations, especially the get hit and guard anims.  An example.

Yeah, that I noticed. As much as I would hate to have to remove the winquote screen thing I implemented because of some people still using WinMugen, I guess I need to make these scouts 1.0 releases at some point.

*Oh... Wow, I am a moron with this stuff. Either way, I'll make sure to change stuff up for the hyper BG and stuff.

*Saw that myself recently while working on a few things, just fixed it on my end, and once other issues have been resolved, it will be released to the public.
*Huh, looping the the neutral jump anim? Never noticed that, will fix.
*Crap, I can't believe I left that many CLSNs unchanged from the original. Maybe after my last few weeks of classes are done, I'll get back to that.

Guess the release was a bit premature. I've got quite a bit of work to do.

Maybe he'll be in Mugen someday.

Well, not necessarily saying you should make them 1.0 only, as I really don't see any real reason to learn new coding besides instant AI activation and palette switching, so still make them backwards compatible.  However, upgrading your Mugen to the new one will be a worthy investment.

I have decided to make a few suggestions
1) A bow can be longer in all the sprites
Like here:

2) If you make more sprites in one motion, the bow and the hairs will move more realistically

3)

I found a more suitable tiara for the attack "Moon Tiara Action "

I will make use of the tiara sprites. I would make the rear bow longer, but I think they were made longer for certain attacks on purpose, like in the anime (Don't quote me on this though as I could be wrong). I would also like to add that I'm not really a spriter, so editing the sprites to add realism isn't going to happen.

I think it would be nice to bring to editing spriter

This can be used for intro:

Will consider including that intro that you recommended.

As for finding a sprite editor, who would you recommend?

My craptacular crap was updated over last weekend to resolve some more recently found air combo issues, as well as a few other minor issues.
