^THIS!!!!

Please, leave that serie alone! You never, NEVER, would do something as great as the 80's serie.

The same with SilverHawks.

%-( nooooooo not the silverhawks! they can touch anything else from that era but them.! ok and maybe visionaires and C.O.P.S and bionic 6... nor  centurions.  and......

ok unless this thundercats is a CARTOON>>> then i am
the movie live action versions are really not as good  with the cartoon to live action conversions. but with technology we have it really should be simple.
Silverhawks was bada$$ as it was.. no need for a movie.

Its a new Cartoon series Anime. No Movies fellaz. Just a remake Cartoon of the old series. how its drawn will determin the dagger in the heart. if its japanese style and a bit wicked looking like Afro samurai er somethin (dark) or maybe the first of the north star legends series that just ended in 2009 then it will be trash...

i grew up on on all that and btw i did have Mick Boom boom from C.O.P.S. but anyway untill i see the art then ill judge it...for some scarey reason i think its gonna look like that latest Avengers show ???

thats exaci said  if its a cartoon and its anime style , then hell yea i wanna see their take on it cause the animes be smokin over in japan but when they come here and get "AMERICANIZED" they get tamed and i hate that. that is why i like Japan DBZ better than the american version...andto say.. no one best not say "oh its the same cartoon" ...NO it is not! just giving heads up. lol . But if they did try to retouch all the old ones i would just feel funny about Silverhawks cause that was a win show. it was probably the most perfect of all the shows cause it already had an anime feel to it and the action was tight.

I remember the show deceiving me into thinking that the whole show would be as animated and epic as the intro.

Let's see if they can fix that now!

Folks, please stop complaining about shows being 'Americanized' already. You know it's gonna happen when something from Japan comes here cause this country views such things differently than Japan. Sorry, but it's just the way it is...and in some cases I too hate the changes but I understand WHY they feel they have to do so (I am currently witnessing the results of such things with my niece and nephews...) so yeah, either watch the US versions or don't but stop whining about them being 'Americanized' as it's something that probably needs to be done.

On-topic, I think we should just give the show a chance. I didn't think I was gonna like Spectacular Spiderman at first, but after seeing the direction they took with the action scenes in that show I was hooked! Just wish they would have continued the show further...Marvel's fault for letting them put it on DisneyXD and they fickle program plotting. And that G.I. joe one-shot done by the same company that does...Metalocalypes I think...was GREAT...but then that WAS done anime-style so maybe this is the opposite of what you guys are afraid of seeing. But right now, loving catching retro Transformers and G.I. Joe on HUB...wish they would do the same for shows like Dinosausers, Bionic 6, M.A.S.K., Visionaries, Silverhawks, Centurions...maybe even Spiral Zone, Dungeon & Dragons and Power Team.

I just hope if it is all Americanized i hope its in good taste. Not all kiddie bopped out. If it looks like the comics that were out some years ago (which i still have) then i can digest that. Lets just see what happens. Im always game for any comeback of any old cartoon as long as its done right and it draws me in.

GI joe remake wasnt half bad :-??. The last crazy episode i saw long ago was Snake eyes vs Storm shadow..that fight was hot. so Oldschool cartoons coming back isnt a bad idea at all. its just what team of artists and writers picks it up that will decide their fate.

thats the kind of facelift artwork i like to see with all my oldschool cartoons. any old cartoon can be redone.

First off, Not whining, making a statement like everyone  thats all. lol .Well i feel you on your valid points there. cant argue but which when regarding why they tone them done for children. No problem. But there are us die hard anime fans out here who draw inspiration from these works and i say "americanized " in the form that when they are brought here the action and voice work are sometims screwed up. Of course they are gonna change things because we view other stuff differently wether moral or not in our own way. but the govor whoever rules over that aint spakin for me. I like my certain animes just the way they are and if ya gonna port them over have 2 seperate collections, the tamed and the originals ( with good voice acting, lol
Now as far as the topic of this being Anime styled , heck yes i would love to take a look at it, if it shines then sure do alot of the 80's cartoons but with good flair. they all dont have to be dark and moody but just do them Justice. thats my case and i can only speak for my self.so again i understand where ya comin from and i can agree on alot of that bro but i still as a customer and fan have my likings. so we good.

Glad to see you understand what I was talking about, lando and sorry if I came off insulting to anyone with that last post. But, let me clear up something that I think some people either STILL don't understand or, for some reason or another, refuse to accept. What I meant about 'viewing things differently' is that what is deemed acceptable for children to watch in Japan is not exactly the same in the US...in fact the Japanese, along with a host of other nationalities, are a LOT more lenient on what their children are allowed to watch. On the same nite, though, the children in these nationalities do not attempt to emulate what they see there (well they may, but not to the extent that it becomes a national problem). Unfortunately, this is a problem in the US for 2 reasons, as far as anime goes anyway.

1. In the US, for the most part, most things ANIMATED are deemed to be for kids and/or family. This of course would not apply to adult-oriented animated materials (read: adult anime porn) and the likes.

This leads to....
2. Anime as-is from Japan and the lot are deemed too much for the children here cause they are afraid that the kids will be influenced by what they see (this stands to be true now more than in the years past...)

Now, usually I would disagree with this, but my niece and nephews listen to a lot of rap (thanks to their father >.>) and they talk a lot of hood talk...problem is that they are all under the age of 10 (8, 7 and 6 years old to be exact)...so I can say that for the most part this is true. Remember that story of the kids that say Naruto and attempted to emulate Gaara's Sand Coffin/Sand Prison Jutsu? The parents there were blaming the show saying that it's inappropriate for children (in this case I disagree...where the hell were the parents when this was going on >:( really)

So while I agree with you that stuff like even Power Rangers could be closer to their original counterparts (wow that show actually has blood and such in the Super Sentai version)...anime should be left more in it's uncut form for those of us that are fans of the original...but that just isn't likely as anime are labled as cartoons basically when they are brought over here and that means 'targeted for children and not grown butt men/women so they gonna water it down to that feeling...then theirs the whole dubbing issue taht means things have to be changed a bit to match the lip-synching...

That brings up the second point...the dubbing. I'm sorry, but unlike Japan we do NOT have an entire industry/job market for voice acting...it's an actual profession in Japan (correct me if I'm wrong) where here in the US there are basically 2 kinds of voice acting...those that are pretty much known already as VAs and actual movieTV stars that decide to do voice work.

its not the shows fault AT ALL. I grew up and all the people i know and went to school with (College, fellow animators) when cartoon violence was epic. The only thing old school cartoon didnt have was blood. They had death, strong acts of violence, and sexually suggestion.  The thing that was made clear is this is all not real its fiction/ fantasy. You cant do these things in real life. You will die and others will die.

With all this we are not crazy as the youth today. The only thing that kids should be shelter from is sex. Knowing of death and the consequences for acts in tv is what needs to be known. Children will understand. They say kids are smarter then we think but then want to shut them in a bubble of rainbows and butterflies. Kid should remain innocent but general knowledge is a must to make good choices.

when i ask my little cousin what would happen if he would tombstone pile drive his friend when he watching WWE. He said he could get hurt or die. So i ask die? what bdo you mean die? he said he'd go away for a long time. So i said so you dont want hurt him, thats good. He said nope XXXX is my best friend i dont want him to move away. i said what? He said you XXXX ( my real name) stupid go away and never come back. I said oh oh ok i you meant he move to a another place. Hes laughed saying yes and we wouldnt be able the play ? ? ? ( some dino game)

This is his idea of death? I know and so many people i know said they knew what death was when they were little.......

anyhow

I read some where this was to be a prequel and not a remake.

^^(PM)^ i couldnt agree more Rage.

I am a father of 2 children, one 13 and the other 9 , yeah i am secretly an old a$$ man in real life and super aspiring game creator and hopefully one day great spriter on the internet. lol .My kids grown up watching anime, and not the kiddie stuff on the wb or watever, they watched the dvd's when they first surfaced. I had vcr tapes back then. their first anime movie, Fatal fury legend of the hungy wolf. Now my son is an advid fan of terry bogard and my daughter reads manga books ( they are read backwards, how she does it i hae no clue lol )) has a avid collection and sheplans to go to college in japan for international dance and Literature studies. She is now working on gettin full scholarships by entering reading competitions and dance classes. My son loves how terry always overcomes the odds and fights on to win and is honorable, so my son applied this method of ideaology to himself to overcome his speech issues and learning disabilities. Now he is in regular school, gets awesome grades and can speak normally . he worked hard t get where he is. just like his fantasy idol Terry bogard and now goku.  When he was a baby he sat and watched run run shaw kung fu movies in english subtitles cause i watched alot of them, so he picked up on speaking cantonese as a first language. crazy i tell ya . even tho the doc was like he learned the backwards way only because his disorder picked up what he was into the most even tho he was being taught english more so as the standard. Things and situations like this shows what can positively happen from watching animes. and yes my lil ones are those kids who are not sheltered from things other than sex and taught not to use drugs. Just as rage points out , kids know the difference and us parents need to sit there with them and let them know as well there is a difference in reality and fantasy.  If we leave it up to the Gov and other peeps to tell us what our kids should be watchng then when are we the parents? Its simple as ifyou dont want your kids to play violent games then dont buy them. if you dont want your kids to watch violent shows and blood and gore in movies then dont let them watch it. sheltering them from alot of things decreases their knowledge of it in the future but sooner or later we all run into it. Its just being armed well to know the differeneces and how to handle it. great post Rage . ^:)^

Just goes to show you that anything can be a great teaching tool depending on ho wits used. Sad thing is, alot of ppl have a one tracked mind and listen to TV and radio so much to the point it controls them into sheltering there kids. Some ppl get to the point they so controlled by TV that somebody could come on TV, claim to be a doctor and say "smoking cure diabetes" and its people out there stupid enough to believe it. You cant shelter your kids from anything, society has ways of teaching to where it sneaks past all that. So by you exposing your kids at an early age, all of that cartoon violence, they gonna learn what that really is and contrary to popular belief, it can help them in the long wrong and they can get inspired from the characters which you have just explained. So props to you for being so positive and being a good father.

The original ThunderCats had a lot of overseas animations to begin with. The new anime is being done by the same studios that made Batman: Gotham Knight and The Animatrix with an intentionally darker theme. Anyways, here's a sucker punch of nostalgia for you all:

Hmm, I'll wait to judge when it actually comes out instead of premature assumptions.

Axel, do you happen to know which specific studio? Those titles were anthology films. I guess I could google it. . .

Thats a good thing to know cuz i have those animes anthologies. i always liked that whole different artists dig in to do their different versions in one. As for thundercats intro yeh i always knew that was japanese and not american. And thats why im worried about it being too Americanized taking away the core element that made that cartoon stand out. But i wont judge until i see the cartoon its self. Im about the Art first and how its written 2nd. If those two dont draw me in then its a fail to me. But Im game for the New Cartoon Tiz why i posted the tread ;)

I'm not complaining about the 'Americanized' stuff. I am complaning about to make crap with a classic.

Everyone is entitled to their feelings that way both sides wins the argument.

Me personally, I'll wait until it comes out before I judge. And I'm 32 years old and I grew up watching this during my childhood days.
I used to run home from school just to catch it before it came on, then do my homework! :P

i have high hopes on this show just on the love i had for this show when i was a kid!! and i hope they revamp some of the classic friends and enemies as well as introduce new one!! and hopefully they will try to get back the original cast.but the surge of toons that we grew up with coming back have not been too bad that g i joe kai showed looked great and he man's short run was not too shabby. let's just all wait and see!! i think spidey would be great in anime form and no not the ninja from the marvel manga comic cuz that SUCKED!!!!!!!
