DC vs Marvel Screenpack WIP

Hey guys, lately I've been working on a DC vs Marvel screenpack for Mugen 1.0.  So far, the most accomplishment I had has been the select screen.  Here's a peak of what I have so far:

Any sugestions or comments?  To me it feels kind of bare still; like its missing something, but any ideas would be helpful.

I may have a few:

• Try a background showing the Multiverse.
• Try for effects that make it worthy to be called DC vs. Marvel.
• Try for those name that appear in the comics (If you do not know what I am talking about, go see Crow).
• For the main screen, try a monitor showing different battles.

On the background maybe u can use some old comics from all those characters around or maybe only the Dc vs Marvel logo with some animation that it be cool.

Select screen looks pretty dang cool so far. I would say, make the sprites a little bigger, so they don't look so small on the screen, it just sets the whole screen off-balance IMO. Add something to contain them as well. Not necessarily a border or anything like that, but maybe a floor of some sort, or something like comic book frames would look cool. Also, the red doesn't seem to fit it that well, at least by itself. It might look better if you added some blues in there, and a little yellow...or something. Maybe the frames around the little portraits could be yellow, then blend some blue into the pic like you did with the red. Like a previous poster stated, effects worthy of being in DC v M screenpack are needed. That new look with the comic scenes blended in the bg look cool too, I would keep that if it were my project, unless something cooler came along. This is just my 2 cents though, take it all with a grain of salt. If it helps you, awesome, if not, at least it's some more ideas that might spawn something else for you.

Well this is just a quick edit of an idea i had



(i portraits will need to be custom tho right? i'm still not used to everything in the new mugen)
Maybe you can try something like that ? 

Maybe add a vs in between the portraits

I am really liking that!  I will see what I can do.  Thank you everybody with the comments and suggestions.  I will be computerless for the weekend, but I will try to advance ASAP.

Looks incomplate to me.

The select Screen is looking awesome!   However, the lifebars are far to basic, kinda bland....they need a little more punch to match the awesomeness of the Select Screen.

What can I add or change to make them stand out more?

Hmmm... Perhaps a more stylized font for the names?   Also,  Maybe a bit more color?  They look semi mono-tone.  Possibly replacing the gradient life bar with an animated one?  (for examples The No name Lifebars, VF5 Lifebars.. etc.) so it's not a solid bar.   Also, if you're going to have custom-type lifebar port pics, then maybe make more space for slightly bigger ports.   However this is minor, and what you have now for the lifbar pics could still be fine if other things are changed a bit.


These are only suggestions of course.  If you're comfortable with the lifebars as they are, then by all means keep 'em as is.  This is your creation after all.

Really nice work so far.

Some ideas:
-try to add at least 1-2 more rows for characters, I think 60 characters would be fine.
-try a "VS" that looks like the marvel or DC logo
-maybe you can add the marvel or versus logo near the character when you select him
-where is the "random" selection?

Looks awesome man, the select screen character is done and the life bars as well, now what do u have in mind for the Start menu and the Vs screen (The loading screen before the fight) and also don't forget the Game over screen.

Nice work so far bro and waiting for ur next update on this Screenpack
