Sonic The Hedghog 4
« on: October 13, 2010, 05:17:58 AM »
The game has been released on PSN, and it is awesome. IGN's review is dead on about this one. The game is short and I wish there was co-op, and mostly feels like a hd-remix, but Sega did good with this one. Can't wait for Episode 2!

yeah, it's pretty good. (Still HATE the casino levels though.)

I like how much resemblence the third act of the labrynth zone has on hydrocity.

lol the casino zones had some of my favorite parts, Like the flying cards. I hated how in Act 2 you could get a extra life every other second though. By the end of the game I already had over 100 lives because of that Act. I hated Act 2 labyrinth zone because there was this puzzle that I didn't know how to get past and it took me so long to figure it out, I was trying to spin dash from one side to the other side, but I could never get high enough then I figured I had to hit the torches in a certain order for the timing after I got killed by the time limit (yes, it took me that long to figure it out lol). I wanted to like Act 2 because Act 2s song is awesome.

Its definitely worth downloading!  Unforunately, I can't seem to get the last chaos emerald due to either hitting the exclamation blocks easily, or not knowing which path is the best shortcut for cutting down time.  Other than that, its awesome.

I hated that card level. I musta died like 6 times cause sonic can't contol his air momentum very well.

and yeah, I know what puzzle your talking about, took me a little while to figure it out too. (not THAT long though..)

I just hate casino levels in sonic games. I mean all of them, casino night zone, bingo highway, etc... I somewhat enjoyed carnavel night zone but only due to it being in sonic 3 and knuckles.

Well they did have new things. The homing attack actually helps and doesn't ruin the game, the torch level was different, the way some of the obstacles were designed were based purely around the homing attack and the attack requires a little bit of timing. The berserk modes of the boss fights made them different, especially the Robotnik clone boss. Episode 2 is supposed to be more original. Episode 1 is about Robotnik upgrading all of his old tricks, Episode 2 is about him making new ones.

Ah, I grew up in the Sega Genesis days and the first Contra game I played was Hard Corps which apparently is the worst Contra game to start off with since it was the hardest. I wasn't really interested in the series after that butt whooping.

Dude, I didn't figure those damn barrels out until a few years ago, and that's cause I accidently came across that info. If I hadn't then, I would have just learned that yesterday when I watched Sonic Shorts 6. How are you supposed to get that if you just stand on them and push up and down they'll move without you having to jump when the damn things MOVE when you jump on them, and they throw you super high in the air too? I always figured I wasn't getting high enough. When I was like 11, I actually had my dad jump on the thing as tails, while I spin dash underneath it when he jumped up off it. Hell, never got past that point with Knuckles (no P2).

Gonna disagree with ya on that one G Lux.. 1992 we did have the internet but it was very very small... although I will agree with you that he couldn't have looked it up on the internet then, because it wasn't really that popular... I would say game magazines or something...

On the subject of the game itself again... uhm... very good.. very smooth animations.. still have the demo... but will get it very soon definitely..

I honestly never had problems with those barrels, and I'm not entirely sure why anyone would.  It's almost like some curse where you need to know about it for it to mess you up xD

Well, yeah. I was just making a general statement. We had AOL 3.5 with a like a 14.4 connection and a outrageous per hour charge, and even then it was all just BBS boards. Although, gaming sites definitely didn't exist then.

And
we also didn't have sonic 3 back then either. :P

Yeah, I was 13, not 11. I guessimated cause I remember the living room of the house we were renting before we moved arcoss town to the house they have now. It was the same year, so it must have been that summer.
