Final fantasy XIV review
« on: October 07, 2010, 02:55:01 PM »
 review from gamestpot

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/finalfantasy14/review.html

I really dont feel the reviewer is a mmorpg player as repetitiveness and lack of story is not really a valid flaw in these games but the interface, the forced complication onf the economy and the small enemy variety do bother me.

Thoughts?.

I REALLY wanted to like this since my girl and I played XI for years (that's where we met, lol). I haven't played it yet but watching her play it looks so BORING. Gorgeous, but boring! Maybe by the time the PS3 version comes out they'll have added some updates that make it more interesting.

game is supposed to be made for console and was then ported to pc (despite relase dates) so i can only hope for the console version to be superior.

This is so disappointing. It's not like they didn't try (or at-least it comes across to me as this)- I mean certain elements such as the character generator as well as the atmosphere design (as far as MM0's go) looked genuinely decent. So, why must they pour such fail into the things that really matter, WHY??  ~X(

lol Square Enix is dead for me (After Versus and Agito ofcourse)
Making stupid decisions, trying to make western gamers like them, stupid exclusives, breaking promises, LONG game development time etc etc.

It seems like after FFX (excluding Dissidia or any other side game), it just went down hill. FFXII was awful, and FFXIII would've been sooooo much better if they didn't have a fixed party and battle system. Not to say they ruined the game completely, it was still decent, but wasted potential. I'd really like to see the old turn-based battle system again.

I really hope for the sake of future Final Fantasy titles, they stop changing things that don't need to be changed. If ain't not broke, don't fix it.

This

FF has been complete trash since FFX if you thought 14 was gonna be any different you shouldnt have got your hopes up. MMO's have been garbage since WoW anyway.
