MVC NES, is a cool idea?
« on: September 21, 2010, 05:37:52 PM »
Hi there.

After I saying this image (which I don't know the author),

I had the idea to make a MVC on this style, using just megaman-like sprites (and true 8bits effects, stages and sounds).

Something like this (but maybe more basic):

UPDATED STORY:

Quote
Yesterday I had an idea and today, speaking with Iced, I got a better idea.

I'm no longer focus on Marvel vs. Capcom idea pure and simple, but an idea that I think people will like: A fighting game Megaman.

But not exactly a Megaman game, but a larger idea: Connect an attempt to dominate the world using clones of other times ....

The idea is this:

Dr. Doom is known for having a bad character and want to dominate the world (the world is only when he wants to dominate), always wanting to take advantage of everything and for devices that allow travel in time and between dimensions.

Doom traveled back in time, and eventually ended up in the world of Megaman, where he met Dr. Willy and Dr. Light. Doom saw there an opportunity to use all its expertise in robotics to dominate that world, creating an army of clones.

Doom, a person with dual character, convinces both sides (Dr. Light and Dr. Willy), offering their services to build robots clones of various heroes and villains.

The purpose of this is simple: to provide arms to both sides, that would cause mass destruction, which would help him in his goal: to dominate the world, mainly because the robots can be controlled at the end.

All the characters are good or bad robots would be clones. But not Dr. Doom, Willy and Light.

-------------------------------------

That would give us a range of options to work, and it would be something more original than a simple MVC. And with that, then maybe we can insert characters from another series (still need to confirm).

But I need ideas for the project name. I wanted to mix Megaman 8bits Doom. Type "Megaman World: the 8bits of Doom."

What do you think?

What you guys think about it? It would be cool?

And, the most important: is anyone interessed in help me?

--Edits--

I've made Cyclops with his actual costume, what do you think? (updated, thanx Gate)

Well, decisions about the gameplay:
-----------------------------------------

* 4 buttons (kinda like Power Battles):

A) Specials
B) Hypers
C) Strikers
D) Jump (yes, the jumps are done using a button, not pressing up)

+plus directional combinations, like A+down, A+up, etc.
+plus charging moves (Megabuster should be carged, not a one button move)

* No crouch moves (attacks, blocks, moves that should be blocked low)
* No normal melee attacks, like punches or kicks.
* No grabs (I mean a button for grab. Just Grapplers will really grab, like Zangief, but its not a normal grab).
* Super Jump will be in, but  since the chars are very small, you will do a higher jump, not a MVC OVER THE AIR JUMP. So no SJ stages.

Megaman basic sheet. This should used as a base. All the required sprites are, you know, required.

Was this really necessary? :(

yeah, I`m a big fan too.

I`m just cooking this idea yet. I need to see how many people would like to help me, because to go with another project alone would be hard.

After that, I will ask another difficult task: Suggestions of chars.

Hey O'

Idea doesn't seem too bad... and it doesn't look like it would take long to make a character...
send me a PM with the details you have in mind, like Playing style and stuff like that and i think we can work on something.

Suggestions can't be a difficult task ... now, working on the project will be tho  ;*))

send me a PM with the details you have in mind, like Playing style and stuff like that and i think we can work on something.

Thanx buddy!

About the game play, my idea is to make something like PDC:

- 2 buttons for specials (and combinations like FOWARD+S1)
- one button for kicks, one button for punchs
- 1 button for grabs
- 1 button for..strikers (yeah, I love them). This is the most easy way to put a bunch of chars.

but about the combos, I will stick with MVC one. The PDC one require too much work for me.

About the sprites, its exactly like the classic Megaman: No animated stand, just eye blinks; all chars will have the same stand (megaman); all chars will be of the same sie (with just few exceptions).

Here you can see a lot of megaman sprites to work with: http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/files/Classic/

Classic Megaman will be there, for sure! I will adapt some stuff from PDC project.

Suggestions can't be a difficult task ... now, working on the project will be tho  ;*))

Its not that hard. With co-workers, it could be a great project. Maybe the Marvel vs Capcom idea could be expanded to Marvel vs DC vs Capcom....or even more :)

Double post: I'm getting some people to help me, like Sic, NEstor, Hero (from MFG).

That is good.

This will be more simple, probabily more MVC oriented (gameplay), will use ONLY 8bits  stuff (sprites, effects and such).

And much easier to do. And more funny too :)

Talking about funny char...I'm cooking something that I will release soon. It would be one of the funniest chars on mugen :)

hahaha, cool!

If you need muscles, I took from this image: http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3263/mmssf4castsheet.gif

You just need to resize it to 25% using NEAREST NEIGHBOR on PS.

hahhaha, so funny :)

This is the original topic, and there are some nice concepts about a Screenpack: http://shoryuken.com/f11/[new-hakan-ibuki-makoto-dudley-]-mega-man-inspired-sf4-ssf4-sf3-sprites-209424/

Nice, but beware with his head: its getting smaller.

Try to not use that sheet with the get hits, some edits of there are wrong and we will use the NES sheet as a base.

hahhhhahh, very nice!

But I think I will leave the black border, this gives the 8 bit feel.

DC chars...hum...maybe a DC vs Marvel vs Capcom?

my sugestion is to still with with pdc ideia, chars from any place, like duel toys.
BUT with more simple gameplay, try use a nes gameplay too, just 2 buttons.
