I'm not going to see it, I mean why can't Japanese characters ever be you know.................Japanese.
I mean Ryu from the first SF movie was Chinese, Goku in Dragonball movie was Cauasian, Kyo in KOF movie is also Cauasian, and Jin for Tekken movie half French half Chinese.  There are a lot of Japanese actors that they can use and many of them speak English.  How about Tak Sakaguchi who can actually fight and he speaks English as a second language?  Or Kenji Matsuda with his quick techniques.

tbh ryu has never had asian looks in the games or anime, he looks like a black haired european with the big body and square face. But yes movie casting has always been a big wtf for me.

You look at all Japanese games and cartoon, you can see that none of them look Asian, which is because Japanese folks do not see themselves in the same way that others see them.  In Japan they say Go Go Mifune is indeed Japanese looking, but Americans are like not he's Cauasian, "look at his skin color and his big eyes".  If you look at Shinkiro's CVS 1&2 artwork, you will see that Ryu has actual Japanese features.  Mike Bison and DeeJay can also be used as an example at how Capcom saw African Americans until until Sheva came along.

Not all Japanese people have slainted eyes, eh not all Asian have slainted eyes.

I made the MBison and DeeJay comment because at first all African American characters made by Japanese were only dark skin, big lips and big eyes, but with more understanding that there are more variety of African Americans or Africans in general.  You see out Fran and Sazh look much different than Africans made along time ago.  Sheva also looks more diverse in her looks even the cartoon drawings of Sheva.

Yeh Mike Bison (aka Mike Tyson) is One of the reasons why they changed the boss crews names around. They didnt wanna get sued by Mike tyson. Obviously he looks just like em. Dee Jay for sure looks like African American. A could be west indian. and yes very true about the Japanese seeing themselves as American in Features. And yes very true not all Japanese Have slanted eyes and not All asians look alike. At times you can tell the difference down the line. If youre ignorant youd never tell the difference. So me personally i ask an asian if im just meeting em first time in general Conversation "What nationality are you? Whats your background?". Its totally insulting just assuming a person is somethin. But anyway yeh Capcom along with of Japanese Anime or Game creators do this same thing with African Americans. Just way outta line over dramatic but hey ya cant look too deep into it....

What makes things funnier is that back in the last 80s to mid 90s, the Japanese interpretation of Caucasian characters were blondes.  Have you noticed that the entire Caucasian SF cast is blonde: Joe, Eagle, Cody, Ken, Nash, Guile, Balrog, Abel, Cammy, Rufus, Eliza, and Alex.  SNK/KOF: Terry, Andy, Billy, Lily, Geese, Kevin, Rock, Kain, Blue Mary, King, Raiden, Ryo (half Caucasian), Lien, Rugal, Adelheid, Rose, B. Jenet, Brian Battler, Mature, Igniz, Galford, Charlotte, Max Eagle, etc. Tekken: Paul, Nina, Steve Fox, and Bryan Fury (Not quite sure if he is blonde).  Soul Calibur's Siegfried and Rafael.  Guilty Gear: Millia, Ky, Bridget, Chipp, Axel Low, and Eddie.  Virtua Fighter: Jacky and Sarah.

What's even funnier than this list is that if you want to find out who's Caucasian in this games, just see who is blonde and if you want to find out who is blonde, just see who is Caucasian.  Also note that American games, comics, and media has Caucasians with many different hair colors, look at Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, Wolverine, Songbird, Mr. Fantastic, Peter Parker, Ghost Rider, April O'Neal, Lois Griffin, Bruce Wayne, Superman, etc.  This shows how most Japanese had viewed Caucasians in the past, but you now see diversity in Caucasians like Chris Redfield, Clair, Jill, and Leon just to name a few and SNK's Shermie, Chris, Elisabeth, Alba etc.
