Cartoon Network Announces Young Justice

Cartoon Network announced its new programming for the 2010-2011 season, which includes an animated show based on DC Comics' Young Justice.

The show is described as follows: "In Young Justice, being a teenager means proving yourself over and over - to peers, parents, teachers, mentors and, ultimately, to yourself. But what if you're not just a normal teenager? What if you're a teenage super hero? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you're worthy of the Justice League? That's exactly what the members of Young Justice - Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis - will [find] out, whether they have what it takes to be a proven hero."

This series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Sam Register ("Teen Titans," "Ben 10," "Batman: The Brave and the Bold") is the executive producer. Brandon Vietti ("Batman: Under the Red Hood," "Superman Doomsday," "The Batman") and Greg Weisman ("Gargoyles," "The Spectacular Spider-Man," "W.I.T.C.H.") are the producers.

"There's much more to come from DC Entertainment," said Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer. "This is just the beginning."

Well Aqualad/Tempest just died recently, so maybe this is a prelude to a new Aqualad.

DC toons have a pretty good track record with characters created for TV. From Samurai on SF to Harley Quinn, and Livewire DC has done a pretty good job of creating new characters.

Since this isn't a typical Young justice line up, I wouldve added Static, and Blue Beetle to represent the latino, and African American community better though.

This also shows how fast Geoff Johns got to work since becoming DC's Entertainment director. Probably means more movies are going to get kicked in the butt, and start getting made. The guy writes half a dozen comics, and still gets people cracking.

True, but Mon-El also died back in 2005 during Crisis. Damian Wayne is currently Robin, and that looks like either Drake or Grayson with a living Superboy.

Right but I doubt theyre going by comic continuity. I was just making the point that they may use it as a segway since DC says after Blackest night there wont be any more resurrections.

Looking at Artemis the art looks a lot like Bruce Timms style of animation


Funny that Superboy looks like Slotmans Mugen Superboy.

And here I thought the sprite artist was lazy for leaving cargo pants, and combat boots on him.

Now the character is accurate

I'm hoping it'll resemble something of how Teen Titans was. Miss that show to this day and the style looks kinda like it so far. I will be missing Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy though.

I'm not so sure. There are some things that are strange about this one.

• The name "Artemis" was never associated with any superhero/superheroine.
• Aqualad is black.
• Miss Martian was never in Young Justice.
• I believe that Cartoon Network is censoring the word "Arrowette" with "Artemis".

I just hope we get to hear the big 4 DC voice actors in this some how and hopefully Superboy wont have such a girly-boyish voice like typical kid characters have

If it were, then it wouldnt have robin.

Tim quit after the Joker did that Brainwash/DNA scrub on him.
He was allot smaller then and younger then he looks now.

This is just another alternate universe

True but I dont think Batman Beyond was a definative future. I think like the Justice Lords universe that it was a possible future. Joker dying, and Tim quiting so soon after Gotham Nights leaves a lot of grim years for Batman b4 Terry.

That said I think youre probably right about it being an alternate Universe. I think that Universe is totally reserved for Paul Dini, and Bruce Timm together as a unit.
