Mugen on the Wii
« on: February 20, 2010, 04:45:41 PM »
Is it possible to port MUGEN onto a WiiWare channel? Or if that isn't possible a Application on the HomeBrew channel?

The only console that I know of MUGEN is able to ported on is the XBOX.. I'm not sure about the 360.. I think just the old XBOX... For the Wii, I'm not too sure it will be ported to that console anytime soon.

No, and I doubt it ever will be to be honest.

I've tried, and unfortunately there's basically no way to do so, maybe someday...

As soon as Mugen is able to work on the Wii we'll be all over it. Trasgo7 has been testing the distros as they are released amongst other things and nothing has made it happen yet.

I remember someone making it playable on the old XBOX but it had to be moded and I think it was also workable on PS2 moded as well. I doubt that the newer system will be compatable unless someone is able to mod them as well.

With the Homebrew Channel, and the fact that many PC games have been ported already, (Sonic Robo Blast 2, DooM, Quake, and Super Mario War to name a few) there can be a possibility of this happening.

One problem I can see with getting MUGEN to run on the Wii, is plugging in your own characters and stages. The only way I can see that happening is if you put it on a Flash Drive and edit it on your computer.

Um..... the Wii doesn't support a flash drive.....

Those USB slots on the Wii only support chargers (like an iPod charger) and to connect to an ethernet adapter... that's pretty much it.

Actually, the Wii can support loading ISOs from USBLoader on the Homebrew Channel.

It can also load other things like movies or music with the HBC.

Is there Mugen's sourcecode?

If the answer is no, there is no practical way to port mugen to the wii
If the answer is yes, ... wow! That would be great, beacuse i 'll port mugen to my GP2x and mi GP2xWiz

The only person that has the current MUGEN source code is the old Elecbyte leader, and the new Elecbyte leader... which... I forget who that is...

So basically.. no.. you can't really get it.

It runs on the regular Xbox, & very poorly on the PSP

It may be possible on the wii, it's just if someone wants to put the effort in to figure out how to get it running

One day there could be a linux os for the Wii that will be able to play linuxmugen, until then, we'll just have to wait.

Mugen would make a great downloadable game that could allow content download one by one like Rock Band does, that would be awesome!
