This Windows Media Video profile has been created for use on all Video Editing Programs that support the selection of Windows Media Profiles & the creation of windows media video files.

It has been created with a set resolution base of 640x480 & 29.97fps as the standard frame rate. So you will not need to adjust your video that is being encoded with these settings. However, they are configurable.

Requirements:

1. Must install Windows Media Encoder for profile to work! (mandatory)
2. Any video editing software that supports creating .wmv files

Instructions

1. Go to the following website below (copy & paste link into address bar).

2. Choose the version that fits your processor (either 32bit or 64bit. If you are not sure, just choose the 32bit version), download, then install it. Following all on screen instructions for installation.

3. Once installed, take the .prx file located in this zip, and place into the following directory for Windows Media Encoder, as seen below.

C:\Program Files\Windows Media Components\Encoder\Profiles

(The setup for Vista will be slightly different, but should be the same)

4. Once you drop it in, simply proceed with whatever video editing you are doing, and select "WMV for Youtube (640x480Res - 29.97fps)" from the list of available profiles, and begin your encoding/rendering.


This created .prx profile, has been custom created to remove 68% of the total filesize, from large sized video files, that have been recorded with programs such as Fraps, or any other video capture program/tool. While retaining the quality & framerate that it was recorded in.

As a precaution, if you are recording with programs such as SnagIt, do NOT use the automatic framerate selection. SnagIt tends to record automatically at 15fps. So manually edit your SnagIt settings to something higher. Thank you.

Please keep in mind, that encoding with these settings, to achieve consistent frame rate & to maintain a 640x480 resolution, will mean the encoding process will be slow. The longer your video is, the slower the process.

Looks nice. This'll help a lot, 'cuz waiting over an hour to upload on Youtube can be a nuisance. Will give it a try
