Rakim is one of the GOAT. He popularized the more complex rhymes instead of that symplistic stuff from back in the day like "Toe and Go". Hell, even 2Pac paid a tribute to him in the track "Old School".

As for Jadakiss, him and Styles P are one of the best duos I have ever heard.

QFT.  Jada and Styles did the back and forth thing like no one else.  The track "We gonna make it"  Is the best back and forth track.

Rakim Allah is one of the greatest ever. PERIOD. But, Hip Hop is ever evolving...so we can never expect it to go back to that, I just want it to go back to the lyricists. Not EVERYTHING has to be serious or hardcore...just make me think a little.

its going to be hard to get back to the golden age of hip-hop seeing as how the mainstream is all about "dancing" now.......a friend of mine is a dj in North Carolina and he got booed for playing juicy(biggie) once I could not belive it

Oh... my... god. I'm from NC and most of my family lives there, and to hear this is just strange. Hip-hop artist like Little Brother are from Charlotte (I think) and they are lyricist. I haven't heard a NC artist who wasn't one.

Supposedly Ja has been back. He was on the One Blood Remix not too long ago. He was the last & sorriest verse on that 11 minute song...what a waste %-(

Sorriest? You're joking right? I hate Ja Rule, but his verse was hot. One of the best on the remix. The worst was E-40.

:-j that wasnt even a verse. it was horrible. just sounded like random rapping that was out of sync with the music. a garbled mess really and everyone else murdered the beat. Im sure it woulda been better a 9minute song minus "The R-U-L-E"

that's just unacceptable

What? Huh? Are you listening to the same remix as me? It's not the best on the remix, but it's hot.

Quote
n*gga one trick, one blood, L.A., New York
The Game, the Rule, one love, guns up
Hands down, can't touch, the flow is a bit much
The style, wanna keep up, I'd advise you to speed up
With money movin' like coke these days, gotta re-up
G up, cop some heaters and dare a n*gga to act up
You see us in gold seaters and throw it up
Its all hood, n*ggas rep your sets if your cuz or blood
n*ggas we all bleed, these n*ggas can't breathe
Only because the guns are drawn and aimed to part
n*ggas who got bullets with names on them
Want 'em, come get 'em n*ggas, ya'll know where to get at me
Look at me, now pass me, maybe you can be half me
You bastards, I'm laughin', bullets stickin' in family
Who sadly gets torn between one crip and one blood

Forgot about that track, was supposed to find it but didn't...but if E-40 is on there, Ja Rule could've just grunted his damn verse and I KNOW I would've liked it better than E-40's!

Thats all he did reall was grnt his way through the verse. I honestly dont think Ja has decent vocabulary to be rapping. Especially with that song. The timing was terrible and the rhymes were so simple. It was so effortless, I think. Yeah, typed out his verse LOOKS a lot better but listening to it.

One Blood Remix

Woah that verse was average at best.  It wasnt the worst but it was still basic.

Yeah when has Ja ever been a lyricist.  His rhymes are basic and usually accompanied by a couple of chicks singing behind him.
