I think Ludacris is one of THE most underrated lyricists of this time.

As I said before, I don't listen to nearly all newer rap.

But MF Doom has some of the best lyrics and beats I've ever heard.
Punctuation and capitalization can make the difference between "I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse," and, "I helped my uncle jack off a horse."

92% of people have moved onto rap. If you're part of the 8% who thinks rap isn't music, sucks to be you.

Most newer stuff sucks, though.

I feel you on that, I think 'Word of Mouf' was his best album.

*lol* I think that can be said for most rappers today. NaS, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and even Cam'Ron. Some rappers still stay consistent with their material though like Talib, Mos Def, Method Man, Redman, etc.

Yeah, I want hip-hop to go back the way it was in the 90's. Good times. Now-a-days it's all about retarded dances that looks like something from the Backstreet Boys. Also, videos of girls half naked, jewelry, and the favorite of mine "I'm Hood" even though they live in a damn masion. Most people blame the killing of hip-hop on 50 Cent.

It's not just 50, it started WAY before him, it's just that he was the best at it. By that I mean, making commercialized music more acceptable. If he wasn't with Aftermath, he would've never happened, it's bigger than him. I know I hate him because he KNOWS that he's raping the game and will tell you from those stupid gorilla lips of his that he's doing it. He just doesn't care about the art at all. That's what pisses me. In mainstream it's really become all about the money first, popularity second, street cred third......and lyrics DEAD last. It sickens me when I see GREAT lyricists try to dumb down their lyrics to sell albums, ie: Busta Rhymes. Real talk, I've even had people listen to some of my music and say, "Yea, I like that beat dawg. You can get paid off this track, you just need to make it a little simpler, and I don't mean stupid. Just spit a hot verse, you know, and and make the hook a bit more catchy." I was like, "DAWG, it's about the ignorance of people in the hood!" WHADAFXUP?! I feel that if people can't keep up, then they need to pick up a book and READ!  <_<|...| My bad, just had to vent a bit.

True, 50 popularized it and made it mainstream with the whole G-Unit era (good thing it's over). Young Buck needs to leave that mess because he's the only one worth listening to on G-Unit. I'm glad Game left, I was happy as hell when he did. *LMAO* 50 does have a gorilla looking face. When my mom was picking up Graduation for me I told her to look at 50's album and tell me what she thinks, she said "He looks like a depressed gorilla". I told her to pick it up for herself *lol*.

Busta did start to make some different type of music than he usually does. Touch It is an example, but I can't lie Busta still had some hot lyrics. I hate simpilistic lyrics though. When people say it's just made for the club, more artist will follow and make hip-hop seem like the new disco.

:o imo it was one of the best from Release Therapy. Luda was nicer earlier in his career, but that was hot... song leaked 3 months before his album dropped (without the last verse) and everybody thought his beef with T.I. started again. I think even T.I. made comments about this years Grammy's sayin he shoulda got best rap album

Luda's older stuff is better.

god I wish Cam would rap like he did when "Confessions" dropped, or even "S.D.E." ever since Come home with me he been fallin off... I mean it's bad when you end your song with "Range look like laffy taffy" I don't wanna hear pre-school rap, I'd rather listen to Jones than Cam

Yeah.  Rap is fallin off a bit.  Mos Def always stayed consistent.

He ain't the cause, but it's been more noticable since he became big

Right, because besides 50, another notable change was with the arrival of Cash Money...another stain on the boxers of Hip Hop

lol well Cash Money's been around since the early 90s... as was No Limit (remember Make Em Say UHHHH)
No Limit fell off once Cash Money got big, and CMR started slippin cuz Baby was scamming all of them... still don't know why Weezy associates with him (well after that pic, I wonder...)

Puffy used to be the s*** in like 3rd Grade.

These days 99% songs on the radio are about 5 things:

    How much money you make

What you do in the club

    How many hoes you got

    A dance you made up

    How many people you kill

Kids are idiots, they're the reason the radio is playing this crap. \-/o

Well, it's adults who run the record companies, adults who run the radio stations, adults who run the stores that provide it, adults who BUY this crap, and it's adults who LET the kids listen to this junk. Kids are kids, they need to be TAUGHT better. I just can't put all the blame on them while the people who NEED to act just sit back and LET this happen.
