i was wonderin how to mod a GBC/GBA to have front or back lighting.
how would i do this?

Very carefully, you have to remove that screen without trashing it. I watched my buddy do them before the SP's came out. Man, was that a pain. He actually trashed his somewhat. The one corner was kind of dark. It's really not worth the hassle when you can just get a SP for about $30
