There's plenty to be suspicious about, the whole thing just doesn't seem right and out of place. So yeah, I'm not changing my mind or joining that forum...it's best to remain cautious and at a safe distance for now.  I never said this whole thing is a conspiracy, but that possibility is always there. And I already said I tested this so called new version of Mugen and I don't exaggerate as I already tried messing with resolutions many times and stuff just does not work or look right at all, heck even had it crash on certain lifebars or not even show up at all. This Mugen has had too many little changes, it's not bugs, it's these changes they made that is causing stuff not to work. Not that I really care either way as I quit Mugen a long time ago, I was just testing the thing out and see if it was any different than past versions. Now that I messed with it more, I'm not all that impressed as it really should have been a bigger evolution than this....especially if this is supposed to be coming from Elecbyte.

Well probably the reason for some of the compatibility issues is they reworked the entire engine. The engine itself(not the cns and other coding files) was rewritten with another language they said. Migrating an engine from one type of source code programming to another while retaining all the old functions will generate unforseen bugs. Its just a fact of programming.

Quote from elecbyte site :
Quote
base engine ported from Allegro to use SDL. There may be some minor differences, such as a change in audio volumes.

Most of the time porting code from one language to another will result in more then just minor differences.

Yeah, like I said it has more to do with these drastic changes in the engine and other stuff that is making compatibility limited. With new coding and file formats and stuff, you just can't expect everything from the past to work.

There's plenty to be suspicious about

I don't mean to bang on about it - but people keep saying this, and I'd just like to know - what exactly?  You say there's plenty - but that seems to amount to a vague, undefinable sense of doubt and not much more.  Can you give any solid reasons for suspicion?  Just curious, I guess, cause I'm generally quite skeptical yet see nothing to raise doubts here.

I'm not gonna get into a full detail of it and we don't need this turning into some flame war and such. I'm just taking a cautious approach to the whole matter as they have yet to prove for a actual fact they are the real Elecbyte. I'm not gonna blindly except something tossed my way out of nowhere. I just agree with what Acey mentioned and it made me think about this whole strange sudden resurfacing of Elecbyte after all these years. I have already explained myself enough, I feel no need to explain any further.

It doesn't really matter if it's the same Elecbyte or not, either way they are improving Mugen and giving something special to all of us, that is what really counts.

I guess that is true, as long as their true intentions are pure...then it's all good. Just hope they can truly improve the engine and fix things where needed. To be honest I'm not all that concerned with backward compatibility as I would rather see all new content made for this new engine after all the kinks have been worked out and a solid full release has been made. I mean, I don't hate the new version..in fact I like it, just needs work is all.
