What's the rarest action figure you own (if you own any)?
« on: September 11, 2009, 04:38:46 PM »
The rarest action figures I own are as follows:

1.) A Duke Nukem action figure (originally made by Resaurus before that company went out of business)

2.) X-Men The Movie: Jean Grey action figure

3.) Skeleton Warriors: Baron Dark action figure (I actually had one before this, but my mom threw it out because it looked too demonic.)

4.) Ghost Rider movie action figure: Blackheart (waited a whole freaking month because Amazon nearly lost the order altogether.)

Anyone else here have any rare figures they'd like to brag about?  If so, post away!

A Series 1 Lady Death sculpted by Clayburn Moore still in it's original package, these are pretty rare to come by and that was many years ago when I found it...not sure how much one of these would go for now. It's just one of my rares I have.

Batman TAS Alfred, and Gordon
There were action figures of Alfred and Comm Gordon from Batman TAS??  :o

I personally have a pretty old Iron Man figure(from the Marvel action hour timeslot),the subterranean armor and the marine armor(one of the armor pad broke sadly, but the rest of it is in flawless condition.
I also have a Warmachine figure from that time, but his arm broke  .It's fixed, but it cannot move anymore :'(

Yeah, they came in a four pack that was a Toys R us exclusive , I think.

A Series 1 Lady Death sculpted by Clayburn Moore still in it's original package, these are pretty rare to come by and that was many years ago when I found it...not sure how much one of these would go for now. It's just one of my rares I have.

Not rare at all. I see this figures in the dollar bin all the time at comic shows. Lady Death , Purgatory & the other females figures. Produced too many & no one wanted them. Now the Evil Ernie figure that came out first. he's a little more scarce.

* The Juggernaut Biotchh!! The Juggernaut of those armored X-Men that came out two or three years ago.

* Violator (Clown Form too)  and Spawn from the 90's spawn toys (ya know, the ones who came with a comic book)

* Almost all my Star Wars collection are from the 80's set of toys.

Once again you are listing figures that aren't rare at all. That Spawn clown was rare when he first came out, because Mcfarlane wasn't shipping him in every case. Then after awhile McFarlane was shipping out complete cases of characters. The comic book store I went to could order an entire case of Clowns, Overtkill's etc... from capital city distributor.

If you are talking about Star Wars toys from the 80's like the end of the Jedi toys that they called power of the force that came with the coins. Yes, some of those are rare .

Here's what rare is & somethings I have.

Blue Snaggletooth from the 70's

Only released in a cantina pre release set ordered through Sears catalog. Once kenner decided to produce the smaller red version , you couldn't order the cantina set anymore. So this had a limited production.

Yak Face

From the Power of the Force line in the 80's. Yak face was only released in a limited number to other countries. he was never released in the US. I think it's because he resembled Joe Cool the camel , Camel cigarettes mascot too much. Anyway I never got this figure until years later after the line was done. Kiddie city was going out of Business & for some reason they had a bunch of foreign carded figures on their shelves. I got Yak Face & a bunch of Mego Superhero figures. The Mego figures were all on French cards.

Dr Claw

Remember Inspector Gadgets nemesis. Deep , Ominous voice , never seen his face. You would just see his hand petting mad cat. That is until they made a figure of him. Yeah there was a Inspector gadget toy line in the late 80's , or early 90's. Dr Claw was impossible to get. I found him years later at a comic show & I had to get him.
here's the packaging....

Open it up & you got to see the face of Dr Claw. I warn you do not look if you do not want the memory of Dr claw ruined for you......
(click to show/hide)

That concludes our journey through the land of what a " rare " figure is....lol

You got to be kidding, that means my Lady Death is worth crap! Probably my entire collection of Chaos stuff is worthless as it seems Chaos was never popular. That's really sad as the comics were some of the best stuff around. And here I thought I might of had a valuable collection, at least I know it won't be worth selling. I'm taking it all to my grave in defiance of all the Marvel fans and the like. I will always be a Chaos fan whether it's popular or not...it brings me joy and that is at least worth something.

Edit: Well at least there is my Spawn figures...those may be worth something :P

I hate to bust your other bubble ...lol

Spawn figures =  *Iceman ThumbsDown!*

The most sought after figure of the Spawn line was the " Malebolgia " in series 2 maybe. He would go for $80 to $100. Now , not so much. You can pick him up at comic shows for $5.

Just enjoy your toys for what they are. Because they all look really cool. But they mass produced this stuff so much because of the " collector frenzy " most of it is pretty worthless. The reason why toys were rare & worth something from the 70's & early 80's because kids opened them & played with them. they were toys & that's what they were for. So to find some mint sealed early Star Wars figures or something is a rare find. But late 80's toy companies caught onto the collectability of toys & the craze that was going on. So they made sure they produced enough crap that wouldlfill the collectors needs.  So they were too mass produced & everyone that was buying them kept them sealed & put them in a closet. This isn't like the daus of old 30 years later one guy pulled out a mint blue snaggletooth & other people are thinking " i wish I had that " 30 years from the 90's someone is going to pull out the first Spawn figure & sell it for a bunch of money, then 100,000 other people are going to go into their closet & do the same. Flooding the market & destroying the value of the figure.

But f you have those first Evil Ernie comics that came out I hear those are worth some change.

True, action figures these days aren't worth much. The only reason to collect them is out of personal interest in them as a fan. Not that I care about monetary value. I have lot's of other non-action figure stuff that may be worth something however. I don't know if the porcelain statues are worth anything, but I know my comics are worth something. I do have the #1 issue of Lady Death and the #1 Lady Death Swimsuit issue personally signed by everyone. And yeah I'm pretty sure I got those Evil Ernie issues too...I also have a Chastity: Crazy Town ashcan that is limited to only 50 copies. Anyway my collection is more valuable to me than any amount of money I could ever get for it.

This is one of the many rare figures I'm trying to reintroduce into my collection: the original, "6 Jazzwares Megaman X figure.  My brother gave this to me as a birthday gift, and I swore I would never break it.  Six months later, my STUPID RETARDED DOG got into my room and ATE X'S LEFT HAND!  As if that weren't enough, she chewed up his beam saber and tried to eat the left side of his face.  I ended up getting rid of that figure by wrapping it in an old T-shirt and throwing it on a bonfire; the Command Mission MegaMan X I got as a replacement was useless, 'cuz the articulation sucked and the paint peeled off.

Other figures I'm trying to reacquire:
Medabots: Rokusho (I think the dog ate this one too; all I have left is the right arm)
Marvel Legends Series 10: Mystique (tried to customize it; long story short---had to go to the hospital for gouging a wound in my finger)
DragonBall Z: Android 18 (Again, the stupid dog was unable to distinguish between a chew toy and an action figure)
Digimon: Omnimon (my cousin "accidentally" broke the right arm)
Double Dragon: Billy Lee (my brother had this one and I had the Shadowmaster; I tried to make Billy Lee fly through the blades of the living room ceiling fan when I was 5...trust me, it didn't end well.)

One figure I would really love to get before the end of the year is the Marvel Legends Deadpool figure; yes, it costs triple digits on every site I find it on, but to me, it's worth it.

Kirby ate off War Machine's arm. And yes, that's Ahnold as Turboman, which was exclusive to Walmart during that one year that I forgot and was pretty limited at the time. :-"

I always hated that medieval Spawn figure in this pic anyway. I like the one that came out a few series before that. It was sculpted after a Capullo drawing

I have the "Marvel Legend" versions of Gambit, Beast, Wolverine, Deathlok, Pyro, Colossus, Apocalypse, Juggernaut, and War Machine. Pyro and Deathlok's legs broke though. =\ Also I came home from school one day and found Gambit's head on the floor next to my bed. It's still my favorite action figure though. Second favorite would have to be my Spider-Man movie figure.

I don't know what the rarest action figure I have, but I think the rarest accessory I own is the Eternia Playset Original MOTU, some of the track pegs are broken though that set was way too complex for a child. I also still have a very large collection for those figures, other playsets and vehicles out of package that I played with.
