This is definitely welcome news, maybe Sega can finally get Sonic back on track. His only good games were the Genesis titles and that's how his games should be. I want to see Sega back on top of their game producing titles like they used to back in the good ole days. Heck, I'd be totally stoked if they decided to get back into the console business and launch a new system with this title right out of the gate or as a pack in. To heck with Sony, Nintendo or M$...I want Sega back! I miss them

I loved the early Sonic series, but I also liked some of the 3D games as well.
Adventure was a stroke of genius IMO, really good idea. Adventure 2 was....egh....still good. Heroes flucked it up completely and from then on I said "They must have something against Nintendo and these other consoles to release this kind of crap. The Werehog was a good idea at first but needed much better execution. MUCH.BETTER.

Yeah I'm afraid there were Sonic titles after the holy grail that is Genesis.....I wouldn't call them real Sonic games though. Sonic Adventure was cool when it launched with Dreamcast though and it's the only 3D one I had any fun with. But we all know it's all about those 16-bit Sonic titles...Sonic 2 and Sonic CD being among the best.

NO! All Sonics after Genesis failed to live up to Sonic's pedigree...the first SA is the only 3D one I except, but even then it couldn't live up to it's 16-bit brethren.

Sonic sucked after Sonic ~~Advance~~ Adventure Battle Mega Super Maximum adventure 2
And after that it sucked even more (Sonic Heroes, All those stupid party games, etc, etc)
I'm glad I could grew up in the time when sonic was succesful and had better gameplay, those were awesome times.

To be fair, the first Sonic Advance game on the GBA was the closest Sonic ever came to reliving his glory days. It's just a shame the game was kinda short...

I never could get into the advance Sonic titles, they just didn't feel right to me. They were 2D and yet still were not the same.

Yeah, Mainly fanboys/girls who like to make countless AMV's about Shadow and Amy and all that stuff.
Sonic was

better when it had those classic characters (Example: Sonic the fighters)

And, I was talking about Sonic adventure, not advance

even with this new sonic sega sucks, they only keep making and releasing more sonic games cus for them sonic is where is the money at...they don't care much about what ppl want actually.

-they canceled shenmue even before completing the story(they decided to turn the game into "yakuza")

-no console version of virtua fighter 5 R? the game improves everything that vf5 had to offer and adds new characters as well.

-no yakuza and yakuza kenzan eng ver (ppl only wanted sega to sub it and no dub was ever needed, even tho yakuza costs were a lot less than shenmue and it still made them a lot of money)

-they canceled the pc version of "condemned 2:bloodshot" even tho the first game was released for pc with lots of improvements and the pc version was half way in development by monolith.

with the way they are currently handling their main game titles they should just change their name from sega to sonic

Agreed, the only characters I except other than Sonic are Tails and Knuckles...oh and Robotnik, but that's a given. They just added way too many useless characters and the series got drowned in mediocrity.
