Because The POINT of this topic is to make your own controll.  So you won't have to go buy a  *360 control when you don't even own a *360.
There is no point if you don't have the system.

You can.
But this is for people who want to make a controll.  Maybe they have an extra X-box controll laying around. I dunno, some people don't want to buy a usb port 360 controll.

Actually I agree with what Nick said.

if someone wants to create something they can.....
We get you can go buy one.

or you can you just forego all that crap..and use an xbox 360 controller!  :D

it already HAS a USB cord, PERFECT for the PC!

your computer will recognize it as an XBox 360 controller and it'll work pretty good, I speak from experience

I tried hooking it up and it didnt work for some reason..  :-??

should recognize it as a new piece of software, like some of the "plug & play" PC controllers..that's odd  /:)

Make sure to plug it in before you start MUGEN, and also be sure to set up your Controls.

Can generic drivers be used or can linux drivers be obtained?

either one you still have to download a driver:

360 driver at microsoft.com

original driver at the link provided in the first post
(havent checked for linux)

you dont have download any drivers for the 360 controller...trust me...it should register as a "plug & play" type of controller, ie, you plug it, give it a second or so to register, and you're ready to use it, just map the buttons when you fire up the game

that and you don't say "an" next to numbers that don't start with a voul...jesus man...learn your grammar!

anyway...like I said, even if you don't own a 360, you might might want to pick up a 360 controller anyway, its ready to use right out of the box, plug in, wait for recognization & installation, and you should be ready

who know? you might want to get a kickasss 360 someday. and if you do, you'll be ready with the controller, won't you? :P

ps2 controllers > xbox anything. and for god's sake man its who knows? not who know? learn your grammar. plus you are supposed to start  a sentece with a capital letter.  :D

why did I mess up there? it's called "multi-tasking"...son..playing a multiplayer game on XBox live and trying to type a cohesive thought at the same while trying to stay alive in-game..

try it sometime..

enough flaming...  ~X(

i had to manually download the driver for my 360 controller.. but this is when the 360 was still just a baby console and hasnt been out for a while... not sure if micro$oft hid any update for it in the windowsupdates... so i dunno how it is for everyone else... my bad on that part..

i'm not fond of the new ps3 controllers... the back triggers feel retarded 8-} i'll stick to the microsft controllers.. whats better to use than a microsoft product on a microsoft based pc? (screw mac)

it's a pretty sick game, trust me. anyway, the 360 controller is the best solution..no worrying about the hassle of creating & crap..it's an MS product perfectly compatable with the PC  ;D
